Favorite snack ideas?

My favorite snacks are yogurt, and cheese and crackers. Well, cheese and cracker. I buy the Kashi multigrain crackers and each cracker looks like a large wheat thin. I ration one cracker per day and I eat it with a couple ounces of cheese. Yum. Lately I've been craving olives. The green ones filled with pimento. Yum. I eat 5 of those a day and I'm a happy camper! I also bought small dill pickles. When I'm just craving in the evenings, I eat one of these...they're so flavorful and that punch really gets me over the "I'd like to do some grazing now" feeling. I also enjoy cup-o-soup. Only once a week, but what a treat. I loved these since I was a child. I like the "garden vegetable" and "chicken noodle."

My surgeon, nutritionist, and nurse educator have told me do NOT snack. Get in the habit of eating only three meals a day, and have at least two protein drinks a day. I asked why we couldn't snack and they said basically "because it encourages you to fall back into old eating habits of snacking, emotional eating, and seeking comfort foods, so it's best not to snack." I have snacked some, but mostly when I wasn't able to get a protein drink in when I was supposed to. Usually that only happens if I'm away from home and forgot to take my protein drink with me. When I have had snacks it's been mostly cheese, yogurt and sometimes a few nuts. I have found that when I do snack I don't feel well afterwards. I guess my new body is telling me something lol. On Christmas I didn't eat a full meal all day. I ate LOADS of protein, but not at a sit-down meal. I felt like crap the next day, so I won't do that again. Some of your snacks sound yummy, though! If I ever do get to the point where I need a snack or want one, I'll try some of your suggestions for sure!

they're strange and sometimes slimy little things...but when using them to make favorites, spaghetti, stroganoff stir-fry...you really can't even tell...they're just filler!!! I LOVE THEM!!! and there's less than 10 calories in a full 16oz. bag! there's a tofu version that I havn't tried (or found) that has a much higher protein content too! They're worth a try! xxxBecca

Where do I find NorCal to order some of those noodles? What is the URL of this and anyother web site you buy snacks from. Although i don't feel hunger I do often crave something without too much carbs and empty calories. I have an appt with Dietition and Surgeon on 2/7/08. So if you have any info I can check with them please let me know. Thanks, Bill M Indpls, IN

I gotta say sometimes if it isn't time to eat and I am sooooooooooo hungry I will grab a pickle or pop some low cal popcorn...I eat 3 meals a day and my high protein milk is 1 or 2 of those meals. So I find a snack sometimes very important to my well being!!!!!!......lol hugs Pamela
