I think I hit a plateau.

I'm down 70 pounds, and am very happy about it, but it seems that I've hit a plateau. I don't know if it's because of the holidays or is it time to hit a plateau. Any of you August people having the same problem? Any ideas on how to get the momentum back????

How long has it been since you lost weight?

At Christmas I weighed 232 and had been stuck there until finally yesterday, I went down 2 pounds. But I just feel like my weight loss has slowed down.

My loss has slowed as well. It stinks, LOL. It's said that when our loss slows for a bit our bodies are just playing catch-up and also at those times we're losing inches instead. I'm not sure how this happens, or why...but it's true. Since Christmas I've lost 4 pounds, but suddenly I'm finding that my pants are roomier, so my waist is shrinking even tho the weight isn't really changing a whole lot. Do you measure yourself for inches lost? I don't, but I probably should...it'd help in the times where the weight isn't moving much. Just keep doing as you should, up your water intake a bit and wait it out as you've been, but since you lost that 2 pounds, maybe you waited long enough this time around!! Good luck, Lucy!!

Hi Lucy! I've hit several plateaus during my journey. Don't let it discourage you. It's your body saying, "heyyyy wait just a doggone minute! You're treating me differently and I'm dwindling!" LOL! It's just taking a breather and you'll be back to losing in no time. Just hang in there and don't worry too much about it. Before long you'll step on the scale and see a loss again. To Brandi and Lucy--WELCOME!! We're glad you found and joined us! It's sooooo good to see people being successful, but it's also great to see people going through some of the same things as each of us personally are going through. It gives support to all of us, and with the major changes our bodies have just gone through, we need all the support we can get. We have a GREAT bunch of people here, you already fit right in! WELCOME!! IT'S GREAT TO MEET YOU!! God bless!! Brenda

You're very welcome. I love to encourage people. I think whenever we get down or discouraged it's nice to know that there's someone else out there that knows the feeling and can give words of encouragement to help us press on. We're on a lifelong journey together and I intend to make it as pleasant and smoothe journey as possible, for everyone I can, myself included. Keep up the great work! Brenda

There are three things I do to knock myself out of a stall. 1. Water 2. Protein 3. Exercise If I stall I switch to ALL water. As much as I can stand. No diet coke, no tea...........jus****er. I try to eat virtually nothing BUT protein for a couple days. Maybe a few veggies. Meat protein, not dairy. So lots of chicken and fish. And for excercise we're supposed to be doing it anyway but try changing it. Like I try to walk as much as I can but a few weeks ago I started trying to climb the stairs as much as possible. I'll just go up and down the stairs in my house as much as I can, sometimes with weights. Just throw in something a little different. Weights or find a big hill to climb just something a little bit different seems to knock me out of the stall. Of course, I think there are two other things. I've found constipation causes me to stall and of course that time of the month. But those top three have helped me with all my stalls. My loss has slowed down like everyone elses but when that scale doesn't budge at all for a week I go to those three and it helps.

Oh my! I've hit a stall too. It seems like I cannot get the scale to move. I've been fighting with the same three pounds for the last three weeks! I did have my period, and I have been constipated this last week, but I also have been working out like crazy (5 hours of cardio a week, two hours of personal training and three 90-minute bikram yoga sessions). I can't seem to win! I had a goal of 172lbs (my 100lb mark) by Valentine's Day, but now that doesn't seem possible. Do you think I can lose 13lbs in 4 weeks five months after surgery? I think I'll try the water and pure protein thing. I've been eating fruits and veggies every day to help with the constipation, but that isn't working. My body is a mess right now! TJC
