Not losing as much as everyone else :-(
surgery 8/14/07
To date I have lost 50 lbs, so we have almost lost the same (in fact you have lost more then me). Everyone loses at a different rate. Having started as a relative light weight (212 lbs on petite five foot frame...NOT PRETTY). I am losing slower then others, even loser then some who started at same/similar weight. My body is so used to yo-yo dieting it stalls out every so often. It took forever for me to break the 170 lbs mark, and now I have been stuck at 161 lbs. I try not to get discourgaed, becuase I know after a few weeks at 161 BAM I will get on the scale & have a loss of a few pounds. I believe my slower weight loss to be due to cronic dieting & the body adjusting. HANG IN THERE! Also I notice on weeks were I can get closer to my protien goal, I lose more.
Mary, don't beat yourself up over it. The thing to remember is that you are losing. I was considered a "lightweight". My highest weight was 201 and I'm 5'1". To date I've lost 46lbs. I don't really look at it as the total number of pounds lost. But rather, the percentage of excess weight lost. When I look at it like that, I've lost 60% of my excess weight. You might want to see if from that perspective and see if it lifts your spirits some. Because we all started at different weights and lose at different speed, percentage lost is the only way to see your progress.
Chin up!!
Surgery Date August 8, 2007
I have lost a total of 63 pounds. I have been stuck on 175 for the past 3 weeks. I know I haven't been getting in my fluids and or my protein. I work really odd shifts and thats what I blame my fluid intake problem on but I really need to force myself to do better. I also find that the more h2o I drink, the better I lose. I use to get down when I would reach this sort of stall, but I just came to the realization that as long as I don't see that scale go UP...I am happy!
Could somebody remind me again how many oz's of h2o we should actually be drinking?? I thought it was at least 64oz but not real sure.
Keep up the good work and pray for less hair loss soon!!
Heather
I sometimes feel that way myself I understand. But than I look at the reality of how much I have really lost and realize that maybe my body just wants some adjustment time. I started at 352lbs day of surgery I was 297 and I am now 240lbs so I have lost 55lbs 1 less than you. And I had alot more to lose. Granted I have lost a total of 112lbs but I had quite a bit more than you to lose. You will be just fine I think everybody's body is different and it just takes some time for reality to set in. I know for me in the last month I have only lost about 10lbs but I have dropped 2 sizes in that 10lbs so I may not have lost lbs but I sure did lose inches! You are doing just fine from what I can see don't worry !! Kristi
Your right on target w/ me...i started at 288 and now weigh 230...You weighed 14 pds less than myself(starting wt.)....A lot of ppl will say I have lost 66 pds since surgery which was 2 months prior but they ARE factoring in they're Loss before surgery, some ppl don't Xplain it unitl someone says WOW you have lost a lot in no time...then they will confess X amt of pds was preop....So don't get upset... To me You are doing GREAT !!!!!!
Mary I feel the same way , that I'm a slow loser...I was before I seem to be now....(btw my signature weight is wrong becuase I have actually gained 7lbs in two weeks!! ) I need to fix that----I worry my pouch is stretched or that my stoma is too big and everything is just washing thru, that my bypassed part isn't long enough ..on and on....I have been surfing the boards like crazy to get support and Ideas at what could be wrong...heck I've even found myself on the revision board already looking for info on how to know if my RNY is a wash....
my surgery date was 8-7-07...I was really happy to have found the August Board...I didn't know about it til today!! We'll get there...we just may not be the first ones at the party!
I had the surgery Aug 3.. I have went from 260 to 198. I my self am losing weight very slow..my friend that had the surgery the same day as me and weighted the same and she is at 187. But she said that her skin is starting to hang.. When I went for my 4 month follow up the surgern told me that losing the weight slow is the best way.. I'm like you, it is so hard to hear how fast these people are losing weight and your lucky if you lose a pound a week... All we can do is hang in there.
