what are you eating
Hey everyone! I am just curious about what we are typically eating on an average day. I know that I am not eating enough but alot of stuff still makes me sick. I try to eat a couple of slices of turkey bacon. I drink water thoughout the day. For lunch I try soup and veggies. Dinner I try to eat protein. So if you could give me a couple of tips, I would appreciate it. Thanks
I almost never get sick from eating. I am eating enought, may be 1000 cal give or take 300. I am no where near the protine I need either. However I am loosing (slowly now) and all my 90 day blood was great, so I am not complaining. I eat prety much anything I want, I do weigh what I eat, it and only have at most 3.5 ounces at a time. I do not seem to do well with pork. I do eat the microwave baccon for a snack, I also eat either puff corn or cheese curels for snacks. I like fried eggs and hashbrowns...
well i don't have many problems with food and getting sick unless i eat too much or too fast my menu usually consists of this:
Bf: 3/4 south beach meal replacement bar
mid morning snack: a small handful of mixed nuts or cheese and jerky
lunch: i love the smart ones meals from weigh****chers i eat the ones that have meat and a veggie...usually about half then save the rest for dinner or lunch the next day
afternoon snack: same as mid morning snack or some fruit
dinner: the other half of my smart ones meal or some kind of meat and veggie...sometimes a bite or 2 of mashed potatoes or rice
that is usually what my menu consists of will vary from day today depending on time and if i'm busy or not...if i'm feeling pressed for time i will just have a protien drink and count that as a meal.
hope this helps remember o chew very throuoghly if not you will get sick...try different way of preparing foods too...that may help...good luck!
My day of eating usually goes something like this:
breakfast:
6 oz low or fat-free yogurt (sugar free or no sugar added)
a small piece of fruit (usually a pear or peach or about 15 small grapes)
or
a slice of whole wheat toast with a tablespoon of lowfat peanut butter
or
one egg and one egg white
one piece of bacon
or
4 oz of cottage cheese
1/2 small piece of fruit
Lunch:
a can of tuna, drained (usually ends up being about 3 oz)
1 tblsp Smart Balance Omega 3 mayo
1 leaf green or red leaf lettuce (nooooo iceburg!)
or
something leftover from our dinner the night before
or
4 oz chili
1 tblsp ff sour cream
often lunch is the most creative meal of the day since I usually try to scrounge up something since it's only me home to eat at lunch.
Dinner:
this meal varies so much. My husband and sons and I all cook together and come up with some very awesome combinations. What's great about this is that we're ALL eating more healthy foods and spending that time together too!
Our suppers usually consist of a lean meat (chicken, pork, deer, and sometimes beef) and a vegetable combination from recipes I have from a bariatric cookbook or salad or sometimes fruit
I am usually pretty close to my protein intake if not above it slightly. I do not snack on food. For my mid-morning and mid-afternoon "snack" I drink protein drinks. I don't want to allow myself to get back into snacking. That was one of my bad pre-surgery habits.
Have a super day!
Breakfast
Mon-Fri
Oatmeal w/added protein powder and walnuts
Weekends
Egg(s) & turkey bacon (turkey bacon still not going down easy??!?)
Lunch
Leftovers (protein and a veggie)
Tuna Salad
Soup
Dinner
Whatever I want as long as it contains protein (can't tolerate steak or pork yet) first with some type of veggie/fruit
I try not to snack daily....especially at night.
Today I will have the aforementioned oatmeal for breakfast, leftover tuna salad w/sesame crackers for lunch and I will eat the chicken out of the Macaroni Grill leftovers for dinner.
