Hi....I'm new to this board
I just found this board today.....I've been active on the Minnesota board but I wasn't aware there was a surgery date board. I've read some of the posts and I'm excited that I found a board where most of us are experiencing the same things. I'm really happy with my progress and I haven't had a problem yet. I've never vomitted or had the foamies, I did get a little nauseated once when I ate an Atkins protein bar and I don't eat those now. I am going to try one of the Smart For Me bars, my dietician recommended those to me. I had surgery on 8/13/07, I lost 22 pounds pre-surgery and I've lost 35 pounds post-surgery for a total of 57 pounds gone forever!! I haven't really noticed a stall yet and I weigh myself twice a week....I also work out 5-6 times a week doing cardio and weight training. I meet my minimum of 60 gms of protein a day and usually more....I have a protein shake each morning that adds 28 gms. of protein, without that I wouldn't reach my goal. I'm so glad I found this board!!
Hi Julie!!
Welcome to the board of losers!! It's the first time in our lives that any of us have been proud to be losers! LOL!
It sounds to me like you've had a smoothe an successful surgery, recovery and journey so far! That's awesome!! I've had a few complications, but I'm past them now and seem to be doing ever so much better.
I had lost 33 lbs pre-op and have lost 33 lbs post-op for a total of 66 lbs gone forever!! I started out at 254 lbs and now weigh 188. Passing that 200 mark was joyous even though it was in the midst of difficulties! For eight LONGGGG weeks I suffered from a restricted esophagus. I have had to have it dilated twice. The first time was on September 21st and the second time was on October 9th. The opening at the restricted area was about the size of a pencil eraser! No wonder I couldn't get anything (even liquids sometimes!) to go down! This past couple of weeks has been AWESOME!! This last dilation dilated the opening at the restricted area to almost the size of a dime. MUCH easier to get food to go down, that's for sure!
I'm glad you found us and I look forward to getting to know you (and your journey) much better!
God bless you!
Brenda
