Hello Katie! WoW! Out 2 weeks and a 40lb loss! That's awesome! I'm out 2 weeks and 3 days (LAP RNY on Aug 13th) and I've lost 14 lbs. The only problem is that the scale is the same for the last 6 days!! I can't believe I've come to a stall already! But...I'm keeping the faith and hoping it ends like REAL SOON! sheeees! Enuff already! Also, I have pain too sometimes in my side...more like the side of my tummy area. (rib area I guess). Mostly when I go to get up, but it only lasts for a few seconds. I also have back pain too but then I've always had that. If your pain gets to where it's realyy bugging you...I'd call the Dr and see if it's normal or not. Better safe then sorry, right? Have a great day and continue to have a great recovery too! Bye for now Brenda (BizzyB)

I had surgery on 8/13. I've lost 18 pounds post op for a total of 34. I am eating soft food. My typical day - B - Light & Fit Smoothie Snack - cheese Lunch - chili - 4oz. or soft cooked shrimp or an egg with cheese omelet. 1/2 banana Dinner - Protein drink Drinking at least 48 - 60 oz. of fluid too. I also have stalled for 6 days. It is driving me crazy.

Hey Dawn! 18 lbs is great for 2 weeks out! I've got to try those Light & Fit smoothies. I also eat egg & cheese omelets, protein drinks, etc, but I do know that I don't always get my 48 - 60 oz of fluid everyday I've been thinking that maybe that's why I'm at a stall already. I don't know. What I do know is....It's driving me crazy too but we just gotta hang in there and I'm sure this stall will pass really soon. (like NOW, right?) Hang in there dear..we'll catch up soon. LOTS of people have gone through this at 2-3 weeks out. One girls stall lasted 10 days. sheees! Hope that won't be us. But...keep the faith and don't get discouraged! At least we've made it this far. Some people don't get the chance for a new life like we have. We've been blessed. I predict our stall will be over TOMORROW! :0) Have a great day!! Bye for now Brenda (BizzyB)

Hi! I had my bypass Aug. 17. My Dr. made me promise not to weight until my two week check up...he said alot of people gain weight from the fluid/swelling of surgery. I went to my regular Dr. one week out to check blood pressure and I only lost a pound...so I am scared now that the surgery did not work! I see why he said to not weigh. I only have protein drinks, pinto beans with no fat cheese, and crackers, sometimes cottage cheese too. Did this happen to anyone else? I walk alot, drink lots of water...before the surgery I lost about 25 lbs. on the protein diet so maybe my body is just going whoaaaaaaaa! I need to drink more water too. I would appreciate a reply...I need some encouragement. Thanks! :}

Hello I had RNY on August 15th, eating the exact same foods as you, not getting hardly any protein drinks in as they just gag me. I have lost 18 lbs since surgery(38 all together) - the nutritionist said if I don't get protein in I will loose my hair and have muscle wasting, so I am going to try HARDER, she also said it helps to loose more weight if you make sure to get it all in. Its gotta work eventually Kathleen, think of how much less calories we are getting. And you are walking, thats terrific!!! I am sure some of the more experienced post ops have this all figured out, they will help us too. Good Luck! Tara

Hi, Tarawyn. I had RNY Aug 15 as well! I have lost a total of 51lbs. 30lbs I lost the 4 weeks before surgery that I was on a liquid diet, and then 21lbs I have lost since surgery. My typical daily meal is: Breakfast: 2tbs of cottage cheese, yogurt or similiar Lunch: 2tbs of soup or some kind of tuna/ham/chicken salad and wheat cracker Dinner: same as lunch with wheat cracker I just got the go ahead to start eating 3-4 tbs so I am excited about that. Woohoo 2 medicine cups instead of 1. I am not getting enough protein in right now either, I tried the GNC Whey Protein and it was just awful. Last night I ordered the matrix cookies n cream protein powder. I have heard tons of good reviews on it on several of the messageboards here.
