Ulcers!

Today is not a good day for me. Up late in pain. I have ulcers and currently taking medication. I will be taking them until 2 days before my surgery. I am afraid that this will delay my surgery. Has anyone had this problem?

Hi Selina, yes I was scheduled for surgery 7/17 and two weeks prior I had my blood work done. It showed I was anemic and had low iron. So I had to get an EGD and I found out I had a bleeding ulcer which was causing my anemia. So they canceled my surgery. I'm taking nexium and having another EGD done 8/23. My new tentative surgery date in 8/31 if all goes well. I also found out I have a heital hernia. They won't operate if the ulcer hasn't healed. I had my new blood test done on 8/5 and I am no longer anemic (so I hoping there is no more bleeding) and my iron count has gone up. They also put me on a fast absorbing iron pill. This is the info I have. Don't get discouraged. It's better to get the ulcers healed first and things will go a lot smoother. At least that's the way I'm looking at it. No, I have not had ulcers but my Father did. He drank mike before going to bed. Maybe it helped. I'm not sure. Avoid aspirin products. Talk to your doctor about any concerns you may have. That's what he's there for. Also, go to Mayoclinic.com or kponline.org (for Kaiser Permenente) for health information. Type in 'ulcers' and the information will appear. Thanks Iris, I had my filter put in today and I will have surgery on 8/23..I feel better and the doctor told me everything is a go. Thanks for the information. The pain was so bad. I would have rather had a baby natural then to have and ulcer. i believe in the power of prayer and I better now. Again thanks and I will keep you informed....Stay Blessed!
