Had Lap Band surgery 7-31
Hello all....
This is my first post, thanks to all the potential friends out there that sent me emails to wish me well. I'm feeling pretty good, have been out and about with a buddy and have some soreness and a little bit of pain. I have been very disturbed because I have not only not lost any weight but have gaineed back the 6lbs I lost on the pre surgery diet!
I don't know how that's possible since I have been on mostly clear liquids and Jello. I have been able to eat some yogurt Non fat of course. This is very distressing. Has it happened to anyone else?
I know I shouldn't get on the scale everyday, but I just can't help to believe that the extra weight will disapear overnight just like it appeared.
Any advice or similar situations?
I've been told that your body goes into a "starvation mode" when you deny it the food it was used too. It tries to keep everything it has to preserve itself. It will take a week or two of steady, consistent foods on your current diet. I was banded 7/2/07 and have lost about 15#. I'm hungary about every two hours! I'm on the pureed diet for the most part. My first adjustment is scheduled for 8/23. For me the tricky part is convincing my brain that we're NOT hungary for a cheesburger, french toast, elephant ear, etc.!!!!
Just remember.....you're not eating at all the way you used to so you know that eventually the pounds will come off. Patience is not the fun part!!

Oh Thank God! I thought I was going crazy. I had lap band on 8/1 and have been following all the rules, but nothing has come off yet. I have decided to stay off the scale.......If I go on once per week, then I'll be in a better frame of mind. If you're like me, you're not moving too much yet.......I walk around, but I'm still pretty tired. Thank God I haven't been hungry at all ....... I sure hope this lasts. I'm supposed to be on clear liquids until Tuesday and I cannot wait for some Cream of Wheat! I don't even know what it tastes like, but it will seem like a buffet after all of these fluids. Did I see that you live in N.J.? I think I'm a neighbor........
I haven't had my surgery yet, but I've read different blogs of people gaining weight right after surgery, too. They say that it takes a little while for your body to get rid of the IV fluids that they gave you in the hosp during your surgery. Your body is also healing and using the extra fluid for inflammation and healing. Just hang in there! YOU'RE GONNA DO GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GOD BLESS!!
