what day do i pick?
Did anybody have trouble picking their surgery date? I want to have it in August, but I have a lot of stuff going on and don't want to miss out on them or the food. I know I have to make time for the pre-op liquids, but I feel like I have to have everything to eat that I won't be able to eat after my surgery. Did anybody else feel like that? I guess I just need to get over it and pick a day and go with it.....
I kinda felt the same ,my date is the 31st of aug and I got to pick it . Our county fair starts that week and it is a big thing here, especially the food! I figured it's not going away and next year I can still probably have a taste of some things any way,I wanted to start losing now not later.
pray on your decision it works.
Hugs
Tammy,
I did not get chose the date of my surgery, they chose it for me and I am glad. I will be operated on August 1st. I can understand how you feel about the food. It has been hard for me on the liquid diet, but one good thing, I have lost 20 pounds on it. The doctors want you to lose weight so your liver will shrink making it easier for them for the procedure. I have to admit I did cheat a little. I am a diabetic so when my sugar drops I have to eat something that has sugar in it. But I also cheated because I wanted too taste the foods just one more time. I would take little bites. It was not an every day thing, but the strangiest thing is I felt guilty doing it. You might be surprised how you may feel when you start your liquid diet. I don't know what kind of protein shakes that you will be using, but I use slim fast (I prepare it with 7 cubes of ice and mix it in a blender and it a makes a good milk shake) I also went online and bought some protein powder mix that is just like oreo cookies. Mix it with one cup of skim milk and it is delicous. I hope these little hints work. Good luck with your surgery. Keep in touch.

I picked the 6th of August because I would have my son back then, and he wanted to be there with me. In your case I would put the calandar on the table open to August and just point to a day and tell them that's it. The food will come back, but you have to be willing to forgo some things. I started the pre-op diet when the county fair was in town and here it is one of the biggest things. We close down the main street for the parade. Our main street happens to be the main highway through town. The food is wonderful especially the funnel cakes and homemade corndogs. So, I kind of know how you feel. I am sticking to it. I am determined to shrink my liver enough not to have my surgery rescheduled.
