Surgery date August 21 at Riverside Methodist Hosp I can't wait

Hello,I have surgery scheduled on August 21 and I just found out about my surgeon using an Epidural for pain control after the surgery. I talked to the nurse, she said if I elect to not have the epidural that is my decision and that I should talk to my surgeon. I don't mind the effect of the epidural, I can't stand the thought of the lenght of the needle to insert the epidural is my problem. I am such a baby about pain and needles. I am not frighten of the surgery itself, I am just afraid of the IV being inserted in my wrist. I HATE NEEDLES, I sometimes faint when they draw my blood for test. It is awful problem, it got me into trouble while I was in the military years ago. Any one else know about the epidural for pain control. Sami Sue
