Topic: Exactly 11 weeks out today.
Surgery for open RNY was on 8-8-06. I am feeling great. I still have to eat small amounts and chew well. Getting protein in first. I take my vitamins daily and drink as much as I can. I have lost 39 pounds total. Some pre- sugery most after. I get alot of walking in each day...so far so good.

Not drinking enough and not eating will stall your weight loss.
Understanding that and still seeing it happen are hard to accept. I push the liquids and still only end up averaging 30 ounces. I have found that hot tea will go down better than anything and I managed to drink 32 ounces of just that today.. and it is only 8pm.. I may make 40 ounces for the first time.
I made my own trail mix and have had about a cup of it. It has about 9 gram in 1/4 a cup so I am happy with it... here's hoping it continues to be something I like and my body will tolerate.
I also made some homemade jerky and didn't have a problem with it. I ate really small pieces and even had to spit out a couple that wouldn't disolve. I am taking it really slow with the jerky.
I have to sleep in a chair still. I have tried the bed and my back and hips are killing me after about 4 hours. I am still using my cpap, but starting to have issues with it too. Everything is changing. Which is good!

I also got sooo burned out on crystal light. Started using the propel powder and it isn't too bad.
I don't think I have ever reached the 64 ounces in a day. I average maybe 30.
I am down 58 lbs and notice it mostly in my arms and inner thighs. Pretty scary stuff!
Started working out today and had a blast at SilverLake. Going to try to go 4/5 times a week with the kids and swim.
I have found that I can eat soy nuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, dried mango and banana chips so I made my own trail mix. These all seem to stay down well and I plan to use this to help meet my protein intake. They average 6 grams in 1/4 cup.

Topic: RE: I am 8 weeks out .... what are you eating
My surgery date was 8/23. I am down 58 lbs and really have problems with eating. I have been scoped twice for strictures and may need it again.
I can eat most things that are soft / blended but can't get meat at all. Protein is a real problem for me and I usually don't make my fluid goal each day.
Started swimming and working out at SilverLake today so I hope this will help with the lack of energy that I have.
I am so tired of being tired that I can't stand it!
Just keep trying is what they tell me. I can eat things like grits and oatmeal, but will puke everytime with chicken, beef or tuna. I am beginning to think it is the mayo since anything I mix with it seems to make me sick. I will be trying other things to mix with the tuna and eggs to see if I can rule out the mayo.

Oh yeah, I exercise 4 to 5 times a week switching off between Rickard Simmons and Sweatin to the Oldies, weight training and walking a couple of miles. I was in a size 22 and now am in a comfortable 18.

Hi everyone, I feel great! I had RNY Aug 21st and have lost 48.5 pounds and all comorbidities. I take only synthroid everyday and my vits of course. I used to take 2 high blood pressure meds, 2 asthma meds, water pill and high cholesterol meds on top of over the counter pain meds for my back and knees. Im eating things like moist chicken or turkey, chili from Wendys, refried beans, ground beef, cheese and eggs. I have taken the steps really slowly and carefully but have had no problems. I dont know if I dump, I havent eaten any sugar. I guess I dont want to know yet. I drink 2 protein drinks a day, Diet Swiss Miss with a scoop of Designer Whey vanilla added to 20 oz ho****er. Its delicious, I look forward to it. I get in at least 64 oz water a day. Ive had no problems at all, knock on wood. Best to all, Annette
