Topic: RE: August 15: 51.5 down
i am suppose to be getting 90 grams of protein a day in , some days i am able to get 60 but only by using protein shakes. water is suppose to be 64 oz and i get maybe 40 a day but that is tops. my surgery was on the 14th so i just take it as i can. I still cant eat much. soups are the best bet for me. but can eat shrimp too. not a lot else. makes me really sick if i try other high protein things. One of these days i guess it will happen. Jan

Hi Jen,
My surgery was 8/8 and I'm down 58. Sounds like you're doing great. I can't get that much protein in either. I'm getting better with the water though. Good luck

I had an RNY on August 15, and I'm down 51.5 clothed which is 17.2% of my highest body weight. I've gone from 26/28 tops to 18/20 and 26/28 pants to 22 or 24 petite.
I'm supposed to eat 43 grams of protein a day and 64 ounces of liquid, but I'm not able to get it all in. I'm on a multi-vitamin with minerals plus two prescriptions (not surgery related).
I'm looking forward to starting an exercise program soon.
Topic: RE: Is anyone able to get all 60 grams of protein....
Nope - I do not even come close to my goal (I need 75 grams a day) without at least one shake or downing a profect!
Mabye eventually we will get there!
Topic: RE: I am 8 weeks out .... what are you eating
I had surgery August 1st and am 12 weeks out.
I can eat practically anything in small portions.
I have only gotten sick a couple times and it was becuase I did not chew well enough and ate to fast. I find myself eating more often as I get farther out (like 6 small meals a day) and I really need to get back to drinking my shakes for a couple meals to keep my protien intake up.
I just reached onderland this morning and am now down 89 pounds!

Topic: RE: Exactly 11 weeks out today.
I'm 11 weeks out too and down 57 lbs. I just realized that today and was stunned. 57 sounds like so much. I have a goal being below 200 by my birthday (end of Feb.). That's only about 7 lbs. a month so I think I'll make it alright and maybe a little extra. The weight has really slowed but still loosing lots of inches. Congratulations with your loss and keep up the good work.

I learned long ago to always wehn you are setting goals for your self, that you set your hoped for goal as the main object and then to set small attainable goals along the way. If you dont you will get discouraged and want to give up but if you make the goals attainable you will be happy and pleased with your self and want to continue on.
The surgery in the first year is mainly 80 percent surgery, 20% you the second year is about 50/50 and after that it is 20%surgery and 80% you so it is important that you acquire good habits the first two years.

I had my RNY on 8/2 and am now 12 weeks post op. I have lost 46 pounds since the day of surgery and 55lbs from pre-op diet. I am 64 pounds from goal.
Here is what I eat: shrimp, crab legs and ct fish ( seafood goes down the best for me and has soooo much protein) steak, pork chops, and a tiny amt of ground hamburger for spagetti and slp dishes. I do not eat alot of vegetables just cause I am so focused on protein, but do enjoy, brocolli, green beans, squash and a potato maybe 3 times since surgery. I also enjoy mango's, cantalope and strawberries for treats rarely and sf popsicles. I am lactose intolerant since surgery so no milk. I can do yogurt for protein shakes.
I can not tolerate chicken, eggs and milk products. I have never dumped and dont plan to lol. I have thrown up from eating too quickly or trying those listed items. I still work out and have so much more energy!!!!!
hugs,
Tanya
