Topic: RE: What are you eating now?
I usually have a high protein oatmeal packet with 2 splendas and a latte (8 ounces of milk) for breakfast.
Then another latte...
Hot tea all day (8 or 9 mugs)
Lunch is usually tuna or cheese, maybe an apple or pear
snack is a slice of cheese or some almonds (just love raw almonds!)
dinner is a meat and veggie
snack is another latte and maybe popcorn if I watch too much TV
I could probably just live on the latte's and not eat a thing.... lets see... 90 calories, 8 protein in a cup of milk.... times 10 latte's would be 900 calories and 80 protein.... maybe not a wise decision! LOL
I am thristy more than hungry. I don't think I am ever really hungry, just start feeling weird when I don't eat. I did "test" the sweet thing over the holidays and found that I can have 1 cookie without having any issues, 2 or 3 make me feel ill... half a 2 inch slice of pie is ok, the whole slice.. not good.....
ice cream will put me to sleep within 30 minutes! HEHEHE
I started at 370 and now hover around 175.... which is ok... hubby told me he thought I was getting too thin (go figure!)... poor thing, he has put on close to 75 lbs since my surgery! I had to stop passing the extra food left on my plate to him....geesh

Topic: RE: eating.
I was told to stay atleast at 60+ no fail or risk losing hair/nails/etc.... like after surgery. I try to get 80 in protein and 100 in water/tea/something...
I have started drinking decaf latte's which have 8 ounces of milk (8 proteins).... 3 or 4 of those, and a protein shake and I am almost there! WOOHOO!! I just love coffee!

Topic: RE: Iron Defussion
I was having the same low iron issues until a nurse friend told me to drink Orange juice when I eat beef. My levels were up within a month.
I don't drink alot of juice, but do take about 3-4 ounces with my meals that include meat.

Topic: RE: Anyone else still have NO appetite?
I don't have a regular appetite but find that I am allowing stress to drive me to 'look for food" again.
I am at 176 from 370 and would be happy to stay at this weight. My mom just had her plastics and with all the issues she had/is having I am not sure I want to do it. Yes having the flapping tummy removed would be great, maybe something on my chest other than my sternum sticking out too.... LOL where did they go?
Of course my legs are sooooo ugly that I can't imagine ever wearing shorts again.
AND STILL
I would do it again in a minute! There is no way I could have ever lost the weight with out the surgery.
Topic: RE: In desperate need of Advice :'(
I can relate as well.
I have been feeling thankful that I had this surgery, but I haven't lost anything since about April last year.
I hover around 163 and that is probably good to stay stable for a while.
But I KNOW I can do better!
We all can from the sounds of it.
I don't feel sexy like I was starting to when I was losing the weight.
I know my ass is getting a little thick again since I can feel it in my pants.
I don't weigh myself every day, but I do notice how the clothes are fitting.
I need to exercise! And get back to my support groups!

Doing well here too! I'm down 157 pounds and wearing a size 10. My life is on the fast track to everywhere, lol. I have so much energy and a zest for life. Would I do this all over again, you bet!
Wishing everyone the best year yet...

Topic: RE: What a difference 1 year makes....
Dori,
I was able to prepare Christmas dinner and able to stand up during the process with not much problem. I have arthritis in both knees and since loosing 105 lbs since 8/2006, this has really helped. It was nice to be able to do my Christmas shopping and being able to last more than 30 mins at the Mall.
I love looking like a normal person now. I am a size 8 now from a 2x. Love my new size 8 Levi Jeans and was able to wear high heeled boots to go along with them. I am only 4'11 so had to have the higher boots as the jeans were so long.
I am glad I am able to eat like my 32 yr old dtr, who has never had a weight problem. Now I can see why, she just eats small amounts at a time like I do now.
I feel sassy and sexy

Dori, When you say you dump on sweets, what do you mean, how bad is it?
I just have rapid heart beat and hot flash and stomach upset for a short while after I eat sweets, not enough to keep me from going there.
How come you eat so much carbs. Why don't you have more protein in your food, other than the protein drinks?
I usally have a protein bar, South Beach cinamon raisin is my favorite, and a banana for breakfast, or I really like, cottage cheese with a little parm cheese mixed in. The soup you eat, don't give you much protein, isn't it mostly broth and pasta?
I am not getting on your case, I was just interested in why all the carbs. At least your weight is still coming off, I haven't lost much since 9/2007 to now. I am going back to basic the 1st of the year and stick with only protein, veggies, fruits, yogurt and milk till I start loosing again.
Have a Happy New Year to you, Lavon

Lea,
It is so amazing when we look at sizes and they seem so small, but then we can fit into them. It is so amazing, don't you think?
I bought a rope for my trip in 9/2007 and tried on a medium and then had to have a small and it is actually too big. No longer have to wear wide width shoes, I am normal now.
Looked at a size 8 dress and thought, there is no way I could fit into it. Lo and behold, I was able to. Don't want to ever go back to size 2x.

Topic: RE: Anyone else still have NO appetite?
C,
I also have an appetite, but not really hunger. When I make a plate of food, I always seem like I can eat more and pile the plate up, but luckily I can't eat it all. I haven't lost much of anything since about 9/2007, just maintaining. I still would like to loose 15 - 20 lbs, so after the 1st of the yr, I am going back to basic. I will just eat protein, veggies, fruit, yogurt and milk. I think if I do that I will start loosing again and get the last 15 -20 off.
I can eat some sweets with no problem; however, if too much sugar in the sweet, I have dumping syndrome. Not very serious, just a little sick to stomach, get rapid heart beat and a hot flash. All lasting between 15 min - 1 hr. So this is not much of a deter for me to stay away.
I do think about how I could gain all my weight back, some have and I can see how it could happen. So, I want to be very careful and that is my New Years resolution.
Hugs from Lavon
