Topic: 24 months....fast approaching, who's ready?
NOT ME! I am dreading my 24 month follow up, I have not lost anymore weight, things seem to be far to "normal". I eat what I want when I want and not wise choices. I think I am failing this surgery. I don't have the willpower to say no, I feel quilty eating something I shouldn't but that last maybe a nano second. I got into the 170's by a millimeter and when I took my nest breath I was back in the 180's. Who else is struggling and how are you copign with it?

I have gained a but and would like ot lose more, I am not sure what diet to follow since the body is different now.
My issue is at night, I like to stay awake and I keep food handy to keep me awake! I am stressed out and I am afraid that I would gain all the weight back.
It seems that all of us that had the surgery 2 years ago are stuggling with some weight issues at this point, so if there is someone out that that can give us some advice please do.

Hi Pam,
I am almost 2 years out and I decided to check this forum to see others that had this surgery 2 years ago are going through and I could tell you that I share a lot of the same issues.
I was 350 and now I am at 212 and the past year I have gained 2 pounds, sometimes more and lost it back but I am currently at 212. However my shirt size has gone up from large to xl and I am not sure what's going on. Although my weight have not gone up by much to justify the increase in my shirt size. My problem area is around the chest! so now I came back here to see what I can do to lose the weight and this fat that has collected in my upper body!
I know that I have not been excercising this past year due to relocation, new job, mortage issues and lots of stress and I have realized that this surgery is not a miracle but a tool that have abused. I don't feel satiety when eating, I have no problem eating 8-10 ounces of food in one sitting, so I am afraid that my stoma doesn't work as it was intended or does it even work anymore? I don't know
I am still on prevacid since when I stopped taking it I feel hunger pain so my doctor asked me to stay on it and I have an apointment with another doctor to look inside and see if I have some ulcer or not.
on the other hand I used to have the same back pain before surgery and that pain went away after the surgery and when I was excercising. Now that pain has come back and I bet you it's because my body is not toned since I have not been excercsing for a year. I remember my doctor who was checking my back said that if I excercise the back pain will go away since the muscles will be able to lift my body better. So, give that a try for a month or two and see what happens. I intend to go back to the gym 2 to 3 times a week so I don't lose muscle mass. I am also going to drink the protine again but I am not sure how to eat now to lose more weight, any idea?
thanks

Hey Judy...man Im jealous! I wish I had the money to get my tummy tuck and worse yet get THE GIRLS put back together..lol
sorry I havent been on in sooo long...I should be ashamed!
I have had SEVERE chronic back pain for almost a year now and they cant find out why....they discovered a huge cyst on my last ovary and took it out but the back pain is still there and now Im on hormones which has me gaining weight...Im so terrified!
and lately when I eat even a snack my stomach swells from my boobs on down like Im pregnant then in an hour or so its back down but still feels puffy...I dunno WHAT that is about.
Good luck on surgery..I will keep you in my prayers!

Well, here it is the middle of June... I haven't been blogging much as you can see and really haven't utilized this website much... I am now out on shortterrm disablility due to back, I stay in horrible pain, my sciatic nerve is pinched between the two ruptured discs... aughhhhhhh so no exercise, I am walking with a cane if you can call it walking...
On the bright side, I will be going in Monday to have my tummy tuck! I'm scared to death, please pray for me. This is in an effort to take pressure off that sciatic nerve. They think they will be removng 15 pounds or so... Wow... I can't wait to see the changes once I heal.. I have contininued to maintain my weight loss thank you JESUS, it's gone up and down 6 pounds due to steroids both oral and three epidural treatments on my back that didn't due a thing except cost me 1,000.00.. I stay on pain meds, I so hope this surgery releives the pressure and I can get back to my life... I see a neurosurgeon on July 3, I pray I don't have to have back surgery. If they actually remove 15 pounds tht will put me right at 150 pounds or so, which is my ultimate dream weight. I'm about 167 or so right now. It goes up and down 6 pounds to 174 so .... not bad since I tarted at 338 pounds when I went in for surgery. I wear a 10 /12 now and have since the fall. I was really getting out of the twelves and strictly in 10's until February when all the steroids started and I had to quit working out.. so I can wear some 10's but 12's are most comfortable at this point.
Maybe I'll get in an 8? after my tummy tuck? I hope so.. I haven't seen that size since high school... I battle depression, and miss my mom.. Please Please keep me in your prayers that my surgery is complication free and I have a speedy recovery.
I'll update once I'm feeling good enough to get online next week after surgery.

WOW!! Congratulations to all of you on your pregnancies! I hope everything has been going well for each of you, and you are soon welcoming healthy babies into your homes.
I had the opposite news recently. I have not had my period since my surgery, but I have PCOS, and it was not uncommon for me to miss months at a time. Once I hit a year without a period, I thought I'd better look into it. Turns out I am in menopause - at 43!!
Best wishes to each of you as you welcome your new additions!

OMG!!! I just found out 2 days ago that I am pregnant too....my periods were like you said CLOCKWORK after surgery...When I was 8 hours late I began to worry already...but I waited another 4 days to test...it was positive the MINUTE the pee hit the stick I swear~~~I am so nervous and am afraid that I will die before tomorrow when I can actually call the Doctor to be seen. Ok, that was a little exaggerated....but being a holiday weekend...they aren't open today...just my luck...well I just found this site today and I hope to make it back here regularly to get some help...

Topic: Weight Gain
I had my surgery in 8/06 & went from 248 to 170 from a size 26 to a size 10 . I was over the moon - yipee! In the last 6 months though, I've gained weight. I'm 188 as of yesterday & a size 14. Now don't get me wrong, at the beginning of my journey I would have been overjoyed to be a size 14 but gosh darnit I looked pretty darn good at size 10. I eat decently. Occasionally I have had chips & cookies, but I'm human . I'm thinking of doing Weigh****chers or something - any ideas ?????
