Topic: Can you believe it has been 6 months?
Well here I am at 6 months since I have had this life changing experience and what a ride this has been for me. It baffles my mind to think that ONLY 6 months ago I was sad, depressed, fat and wanting to not go on anymore. I wore a size 20 but needed a 22 even though I refused to go buy that high of a number for me. How sad is that? Now I sit here and can wear a 12 pant and some 10's (those are the ones that you just walk in and cant breath or sit down- but you look good lol). I dont sleep all of the time and have more energy then I have ever had before. I want to go shopping and love how I look in clothes again. Sorry Lane Bryant, you will no longer get my money as I am shopping at Macy's in the junior section!!!!! The looks from men is also helping me as I notice the "look". I dont always see them cause my head is still stuck on my original size and am working on that. There are also some interesting fall backs to this change I have discovered- the women around me went from wow and congrats and you look great to now dont you think you have lost enough, you are smaller than me, you dont look good getting skinney now. When did that happen that they became Katty? I will see Dr.D this coming week but we did my labs early and they are wonderful. It shows I have the program down right and my vitamins are taken and working with my body correctly. Heck my lipids are

Topic: RE: 5mths out!!!
I'll be six months out on 2/7. I have lost 60 lbs and can eat just about anything except sugar, juices, white potatos, and corn. I mostly eat peanut butter, wheat toast with SF jelly for breakfast, deli meat for lunch and cheddar cheese; dinner is usually some kind of soup and steak, shrimp, dry beans, chicken or pork...but all in tiny amounts. I can handle some spicey foods and not others. I am lactose intolerant since surgery, so no milk for me....wasn't a big milk drinker anyway, but sure miss juice....it makes me dump. White potatos and too many carbs make my heart flip flop and pound and I get diarrhea for about 30 minutes....then I am ok. I drink AchieveOne ready to drink protein (23 grams per bottle)....love it! It is like "crack" to me! It is coffee based so a good "day starter".

Topic: RE: Everyone is doing so well -- Why aren't I
I will be six months out on 2/7 and have only lost 60 lbs. I have been going to physical therapy ordered by my surgeon to build muscle strength because of all the years of not being to exercise because of arthritis. My surgeon told me that I am losing slow now because muscle weighs more than fat and I am building muscle. He said not to worry, I will begin losing again soon. I was considered a lightweight at 5'6" and 227 lbs. Down from size 22 to 12/14 pants/jeans and size large shirts are beginning to get too large....and my rings are all too big now!

Topic: RE: Help with Hairloss
I haven't had that much hair loss and I am almost 6 months out from surgery. Just a few strays here and there. I have been taking folic acid 1200 mcg a day for a couple years because I take methotrexate for arthritis. This may be why I am not having much hair loss. I am also taking 3 Flintstone with iron vits a day and 1200 mg of B12 a day. Plus Citralcal minis. I feel great! My surgeon said his patients do better on Flintstones than the higher priced vitamins....so I am following his advice and am doing great.

Topic: RE: Sinus Meds? You guys take them?
You may want to talk with your doc, but (with no medical knowledge or stay at a Holiday Inn Express to back me up) I don't see a problem. I've taken sinus meds since right after surgery. My meds are prescription though. I've also taken my migraine meds, since if I don't take my sinus meds right away I tend to develop a migraine!

Topic: RE: Exercise 1/30/07
I really feel fortunate to have the classes here. My gym is actually a "Wellness Center", and is run by one of the local hospitals. Part of the reason I joined was because they have such a wide variety of classes and exercise choices. I've heard that there are some good Pilates tapes out there. Have you checked any of them out?

Topic: Exercise 2/01/07
It snowed in Northern Alabama last night! The cold weather made me want to jump back in bed after dropping ds off at school, but I was good, and headed to the gym. Today was Pilates class. Stretched out muscles that were getting tight and sore. I can really feel it in my abs and thighs this evening. Hope everyone else is on track with their exercise!
