thanks for this post.... your weight loss is great....mine is and has been stalled basically since November I KNOW I probably snack on too many carbs...or dont eat enough every day... I have gone from 228 to 170...and that darn scale just bounces up then back down I did see 169 ONCE then it was gone.... I promised to be perfect with all of this and I find all hard...I cant stomach many things well... Steak and lobster are my favs...I can even eat it reheated so I pretty much survive on it most days... I do tend to snack on lite chips and such which I know is bad but cheez-its get me thru sometimes...oh and most days I dont feel like fixing things I turn to grits w/ cheese or Special K Protein Plus.....I eat both of those things often. most days B - Special K Protein Plus w/ 1% milk S - some type of bar or fruit L - usually subway salads or kids meal sandwich (takes 2 hours to eat but protein count is good) S - nuts or bar, occasional carb related light snack D - a piece of steak or fish with a few bites of veggies S - protein drink if my count has been low for the day i know Im getting way too many carbs...you guys sound like you are doing so well...please pray for me... Im sure that is why my scale doesnt move....of course when I dont eat them it goes up....so I dunno how to find that perfect balance. i try to get creative with dinner sometimes but i run out of ideas. HELP!

I just wish I was as close to goal as some of ya'll! You are doing great! I've lost 132 pounds, but only 21 pounds since Jan 1st... I've pretty much been stalled all year this year. And, I still have 100 pounds to lose to reach my goal weight of 175 to 180 pounds. I started at 410 and am currently at 278. I haven't lost any weight in over two weeks now. I have lost 100 inches so far, but even that isn't feeling as good as it did.... I still have 58 inch hips. I have 27 inch thighs. I want desperately to lose weight in those two places! I eat between 900 and 1200 calories per day. I get i 65 to 80 grams of protein daily and 60 ozs or more (68 today, 80 yesterday) of fluids per day. I exercise at least 3 times per week which is major considering the physical limitations I had as a pre-op. BUT, nothing I do seems to shake up my loss and get it rolling again lately.... You guys keep doing what you're doing! You're so close to goal! Lea

I too was considered a lite weight because I had 100 to lose. I lost 18 before the surgery and have lsot 80 since. I am 5'9 and they want me down to 160 - 165, so I only have 15 - 20 to go. Today I had a protein drink for breakfast and some water. Lunch I had half a small turkey and cheese sandwhich. I also took 3 bites of my sons pizza and it made me sick!!!! For dinner I had 4 pieces of shrimp and some cheese. I drink water all day long. I forgot, I had a few Cheetos. I know not the best choice. But I was soooo hungry I had to eat.

I was 7 months on the 14th. I was what they consider a light weight and was only about 120 pounds overweight. I have lost 76 pounds to date. I get 90 grams of protein in a day and try for about 90 oz of water . To do this i have 2 protein shakes a day each one 30 grams of protein apiece. then have a couple of small meals during the day of high protein foods such as cottage cheese and pineappe or tuna fish with boiled egg. I can eat 1/2 cup of chilie at a time or 1/2 cup of refried beans with cheese on them I try to eat only high protein foods. when i do eat. Protein first you know. I love green veggies but know they are sort of a treat after the protein. I hope i am not thru losing weight. I have been more or less at a stall for awhile but then i will lose 2or 3 pounds and then stall again for a couple of weeks. Need to up the exercise i know but it is hard to do anymore. Jan

Hi Kelley, I had my surgery on 8/22 so tomorrow I will be 7 months out and since surgery I have lost 82 lbs and I lost 23 lbs pre-op. I am down a total of 105 lbs which is wonderful but I still have 50 more to go! I have been staying pretty much the same (within 10 lbs) for the last 2 months. I do not eat breakfast because my vitamens and pills fill me up. I drink hot tea (black) in the morning. Usually 2 cups, sometimes 3. For lunch today I had 3 oz of chicken salad I made with a small amount of reduced fat miracle whip and relish. I had that on about 15 reduced fat wheat thins. I also had 1/2 cup of my protien pudding. I could not drink the protien shakes so I use the powder in fat free, sugar free pudding that I make with 1% milk. It ends up being 17 grams of protien in one serving. I will have a 60 calorie yogurt this afternoon after my walk. Not sure what I am having for dinner yet but usually I have a w.w. dinner or some chicken or fish. I hope this helps. I can eat a whole small Wendy's chili now and I used to eat about half. I can eat pretty close to a whole ww meal. On the cheese ravioli one I will only have 2 raviolis left that I can't eat. I hope I am not done losing yet. Maybe I am eating too much. I exercise quite a bit but have not tried weights yet. I am thinking of trying that. Is this about the typical amount you are eating? I would really like to know if I am eating too much or too little...

I am just curious about how much everyone is losing. I will be 7 months out of the 28th and I am down 80lbs. I have stalled some and my drs office says I'm eating too much! I feel like I am eating nothing some days. They tell me 3 oz at a time. Has anyone else been told this? I have 15 - 20lbs more to go. Help.....! What are you eating?

Hi Jo it is really hard to find a good balance with the carbs for me. I struggle with that everyday. See if I do under 20 grams of carbs for a little while maybe for about a week I lose. If I do any longer than that I stall. If I don't eat enough carbs I stall. It's either all or nothing for me. The New whey liquid protein can be found at www.bariatriceating.com and www.nashuanutrition.com It is a vial of liquid protein that tastes kind of like a really sweet jello shot. The vial is only 2.9 ounces. Real easy to get the protein in! You can buy it in two ways. 25grams of protein and 42 grams of protein I believe. A lot of people on here say that we cannot absorb more than 30 grams of protein at a time. (my surgeon said that hasn't ever really been proven) But to be on the safe side, when I buy the 42 gram vial I drink half at a time. It's pretty sweet, but not gritty and thick like chalk. You can put it in some crystal light, I think that would probably help. They are a bit pricey. You get 12 vials for about $25-$30.. But if you order from Nashua Nutrition all orders over $99 have free shipping. I've tried a few things from nashua nutrition like their protein hot chocolate and their protein soup. I thought they were really good! Good luck!

Dear Leah: Thanks for the response, it was helpful. I may be eating too many carbs. What is New Whey protein? Is is hard to take or taste bad? I have a lot of trouble with any kind of liquid vitamany taste. I stopped the regular protein drinks because they gave me such bad gas. Jo

Here's a typical daily menu for me B- 1 slice of brownberry bread/toast with a little butter and s.f. jam (this bread has only 6 net carbs and 5 g protein) Small piece of fruit S- New whey liquid protein (25 g protein) L- chicken or fish (between 3 and 5 ounces) sometimes I can eat a little bit of cucumber salad or a piece of fruit if I didn't have any for breakfast S- carb control yogurt or a protein bar, sometimes I'll have another New whey liquid protein vial D- usually chicken or fish and a salad or some greens, sometimes I'll eat some steamed veges S- If I have enough room I'll eat some beef jerky, or the other half of my protein bar. I try to get in my 64 ounces of fluids and take all my vitamins. I'd say I meet this goal 5 out of 7 days.

Wow! You made goal by 6 1/2 mos out! That is awesome! I have lost 132 pounds but still have another 100 to lose to reach my personal goal of 175-180 pounds. I am at 278 now. I have lost over 100 inches as well. That is the most amazing part for me so far. This year (since Jan 1), I have lost only 21 pounds, but have lost 38 inches in the same amount of time! I could hardly believe it when I saw it! I was so depressed over only losing 21 pounds in 2 1/2 months when I'd been losing that much every month between July and December... Then I saw the inches lost and realized where my body's been focused this last couple of months! I have my share of gas, but it isn't all that bad and doesn't smell much at all. It seems to be more the air inbetween batches of food eaten instead of gas caused by some specific food item... It passes all at one time when I go to the potty usually (the gas that is). Then, the next time I go to the bathroom seems to be when I have a BM. Guess I've been lucky in that sense! And, I haven't been painfully constipated in several weeks now too. That is VERY good! LOL Best wishes as you enter the maintenance phase! Lea
