That is not alot of food. I had 6oz in a protein shake for breakfast, then half a cup of coffee (between the two it was ove a 90 min period) Lunch was 2oz of meatloaf, about 2 oz of grapes and a bite or two of various other things at a church dinner. snack in the afternoon was hot tea and 3 crackers dinner was at skyline. I had about 1/4 of a salad and a couple of bites of a 5 way. I can eat about 5-6 ounces at a time if it is something that I really like or really want to eat. Otherwise, 2-3 ounces if enough for me.

I had my surgery on August 1st, and my goal was to be 165 pounds. I am hovering between 163 and 167, so I consider myself having lost 130 pounds, since I am most often at 165. I really got stuck at 170 pounds, and didn't think I'd ever lose another pound, but then had a small bowel obstruction. I landed in the hospital for emergency surgery and a week of recovery on just IV fluids. I came home weighing 10 pounds more than when I went in, but after a few day**** the 165 mark! I seem to be able to eat more of the things I shouldn't be eating than I can of the good for me stuff. I really struggle to get 3 ounces of tuna in, but I can eat 3 ounces of pretzels without batting an eye Except for protein bars and shakes, most of the real food protein gives me a hard time - especially chicken! I haven't attempted salad or any real tough veggies yet. I'm afraid of a lot of food, and that keeps me on the straight and narrow.

I am 7 1/2 months post op now, my surgery was August 9th 06. I have lost 96lbs so far and I am so close to 100 that I cant stand it. Was hoping to close out March by hitting the big 100. Not sure thats going to happen. I have lost maybe 20lbs since Christmas, it has slowed for me big time. I stall then lose a few and it goes on and on. I have noticed I can eat a lot more now then I used to. I get very worried and try to be more caucious. There is not too much that I can't tolerate. I started at 335lb and I am down to 244lbs. Glad to hear everyone is doing so awesome.

Topic: RE: Marriage
Funny this topic came up. I have had co-workers that have made jokes asking if I was going to ditch my husband now that I am losing the weight. I know I won't have any problems staying faithful. I was overweight when I met my husband and gained about 70lbs more after we were married. I look at if from the perspective that my husband loved and accepted me at my worst that he deserves me at my best. Ironically my husband is not that overweight but a month before my surgery he changed jobs from being a restaurant manager always on the go to a sales rep and now he is in the car a lot and not as active. As I can no longer eat a full plate my leftovers are being passed to him and he has gained a lot of weight since my surgery. Last week someone honked at me as I walked down the street so I figured surgery is working. LOL. So as it's great that I feel awesome to get the attention my husband has always given me that attention fat or now thinner. My ex-husband is another story. He always made me feel ashamed of myself about the weight gain. I think it depends on how your husband treats you to determine how you treat him in return. If the situation was reversed and I was married to my ex I think I would be a gonner. Great post.

Topic: RE: Marriage
I've been married for 16 years, and I believe my husband is the one and only true love of my life. I don't ever see myself leaving. Having said that, though, it feels so darn good when someone OTHER than my husband notices me. Before, I was the invisible fat girl. Now, though, men are holding doors, smiling at me, chatting with me... It's hard when you are married to someone for such a long time to remember to tell them how great they look, how wonderful they are, how much you love them, etc. My husband really tries, and he is being so nice about telling me how good I look. But when you are fat, and no one else is making comments to you, it's easy not to notice that your husband doesn't say much. When you lose weight and men start saying stuff, frankly, it makes your husband look bad. He isn't doing anything wrong - or even anything he hasn't been doing - but by NOT giving you extra attention when other men are willing to, it's easy to see why people stray. Choosing to be unfaithful, well, that's a big step. I can't tell you what to do, but I can tell you to make sure your heart and your head are both in the same place when you make your decision. You don't want to do something that you will regret later.

Hi Mel, I eat 1/4 cup of food every 3-4 hrs (usually 4-5 times a day). Try that...I hope it helps! Stephanie

I love the fact that I have lost almost all my weight now. I only have a little over 30 pounds to get off, and I love all the attention that I'm getting, but I almost don't trust myself to stay faithful to my husband because of how much i love the attention. Don't get me wrong I love him very much, and he is the father of my only child, we have been married for 8 years now, and neither of us has been unfaithful. I was just wondering if anybody else was having the same feelings, and is brave enough to talk to me about it. You can go to my page and send me a personal message if you want. I hope nobody thinks I'm a ***** or anything, but I would rather talk to people who have had the surgery to know what I'm talking about.

Sounds like we're in pretty much the same boat... I have lost 134 pounds, but still have 100 more to lose to get to my goal weight of 175ish... I am not hungry at all and have to make myself eat. I get 65 to 80 grams of protein per day but have days when that is harder because I sometimes forget to eat. I can eat 4 ozs of meat (steak, turkey or chicken breast, etc) in a sitting. Tonight I weighed up 4 ozs of turkey breast and had that with just a bit of mashed potatoes and had gravy on the meat too. I eat about 2 pieces of bread (very good whole grain bread) per month. When I step back and look at the whole/big picture, I am doing everything I am supposed to and I am losing, just very slowly now... I guess it could be worse... I could be not losing at all even over a 3 month period! I've only lost 23 pounds since New Years, but that is still 23 pounds gone forever! I just wi**** was more like 23 pounds per MONTH, not per 3 months! LOL Hang in there guys! It IS coming off...however slowly it may seem! Hugs, Lea 410/276/175??

My surgery was 8-23-06. I have lost 133 lbs but the last 10 have taken all of this year! I am getting so frustrated. I do have a hard time getting enough protein each day. I am not hungry at all and usually drink green tea from morning to night. If pushed, I can eat about 4oz of steak, but I don't want it. I have 100 lbs left to get to goal.

I am almost 8 months out. I have lost 110 lbs since surgery. I have lost little to nothing in weight in the last 2 months. But I have my goal in sight. I am looking to get to 230lbs. I know the book and dr's say 190lbs. But 230 would be great for me. I started at 363 at day of surgery. I just got to learn to control my appetite somewhat. Talk to you all soon. Tommy
