Hey Patti, See ya soon. Am heading up for my preop in an hour or so. Since we are going to be walking buddies, hope we meet today instead of when I am moaning the day after surgery. LOL.

Dear Aunt Pam, How thoughtful of you to write. I am picking up the boot and crutches today. I am going for my pre-op testing for the lap band todat too. I will ask them questions too. As for him he will be unhappy wherever he is. I am gonna put my foot down. and stay here. We have written down pros and cons. This move is beyond stress. we would be moving from a beautiful scenic quiet S. Jersey location back to Philadelphia. We do attend the spport group here, it is great. Plus the fills and nutrion classes are here. All in all it's things that make you want to say... Thanks again

Topic: 8/11 - Need advise on explaining to family
Looking forward to starting the rest of my life, but need some help handling the "supportive" family who doen't understand why I can't adpot a new set of food/exercise rules for my life without the surgery. I try to explain that I will be going into therapy, finding a support group etc. and attacking this problem from multiple angles. Well, they say, can't you do it with all of the other angles, but not this one? They are concerned that in the long run this won't make a difference since you have to take care of the underlying reasons why you eat and if you do that you shouldn't need the surgery. They also have seen a recent WSJ article on a woman post WLS who became an alcoholic and the article suggests that post-surgrey people turn to other addictions. Does anyone have any statistics on the number of people who keep the weight off successfully in the long run? Thanks.

Patricia, your heel spur sounds so painful. ouch! I would ask the foot doctor about some minor walking with the crutches, i am sure they will approve it for you. The idea is that you need to get body movement and there are many ways to achieve that, ask the nurses for help. How about a 10 minute wiggle in bed every hour or so. OR Have your arms "run" in place. OR How about chair dancing or bed dancing! Ok... so these may be a bit weird, my point is don't worry, things will find a way to work out. Now about your husband and moving.... Sounds like he has put alot of thought into where he would be happier and misses "back home". Is there any negociation in this matter? I hope there are some wls support groups near there and a place for you to follow up your wls.???? Would this move be very stressful for you??? I sometimes like to write down the pros and cons of a decission needing to be made to help me sort out the whys and hows and maybe the how comes. Thinking of you. hugs, Aunt Pam
