Topic: RE: aug 3 my day
I'm Aug. 3 too!!! I'm on the clear liquids today as well!!! It is terrible, but for a good cause. I keep thinking my sugar-free popsicle is a nice T-bone steak!!! But my stomach is kicking my butt, saying noooo it's no steak at all!!! We still have 1 more day to starve, then the other days we wont notice it as bad---pain will most likely take care of it!!!! I can't wait, here we come losers!!!!
Topic: RE: Our Month
Yay August. It's finally here.
I'm counting down 2 weeks also. I've got a 10 dayu liuid-only diet I'm starting early. All of my pre-op appointments kick off August 3 with a Nutritionist meeting.
I've already painted a message on my stomach with sunless tanner for my surgeon (It says THANK YOU). I'm good to go. Just gotta clean the house, and do some laundry. I'm already packing up my largest winter clothes cuz I'm not going to need them anymore!
Good luck to all of us!

Topic: RE: August Surgery Roll Call!
Heather,
After going through the pre-admission testing I now know what to pack. I'm August 21st and I can't wait!
I'm bringing my jammies, footie socks, cell phone, my pillow, bath supplies, and I'm going out this weekend and buying an i-pod and new sneakers - the ones where you can slip your feet into, so I don't have to tie them. I'm going to wear the clothes that I came to the hospital in to wear home. Not sure what else to bring. I'm sure I'll think of something else!

Heather,
Awesome idea. I'm going in day after tomorrow. I haven't packed yet. I figure I'll do it tomorrow. Things I will not leave home without? My Bible, my iPod, my cell phone, oh yeah and my hubby. I guess after that I'll pack stuff like toiletries and my father made me some gorgeous new nightgowns that button at the shoulder and down the front for easy access but they tell me I'll probably not want to use them and get them stained. But I figure that is what Shout is for and why not feel pretty while in the hospital?
I'm working today, Tuesday, then tomorrow I'm home on my liquid diet. Since I'm not a be by myself person, my father and sister are coming over to keep me company. My husband has to work yet tomorrow but will be off for the surgery and all next week. My sister is bringing my three nieces ages 13, 7 and 6. They are the joy of my life since I couldn't have children.
It is awesome to read everyone's posts and get great ideas. Wow, this is really going to happen in a couple of days.
Good Bless and you're in my prayers,
Kelle'

I'm the 3rd too! I only have to do clear liquds starting the day before. Every day I think, just three more days, just two more days, etc. Sometimes I'm anxious, sometimes I'm not. Sometimes I wonder what in the heck I'm doing and other's I let myself be excited.
It's just the day after tomorrow! Good Luck and God Bless and keep in touch!

Topic: RE: Surgery this Friday
My surgery is Thursday and I think I've decided, we can never actually be prepared. We can read all the stuff they give us and do what we are told, but I don't know about you, once and a while I'll just burst into tears and I don't even know why.
Today I've decided to look at it as an adventure. We'll see how long that gets me through the day! ; )
Good luck and let us all know how you are doing as soon as you can get something posted.
You'll be in my thoughts and prayers!!!

Trish,
I've been thinking about the same things. I loved Suzanne's post with all her ideas. I have to jump on the hobby bandwagon. I love to scrapbook and I've decided to do a scrapbook about my recovery process. If you need scrapbook materials just let me know I have more than I could ever use in a lifetime!
I'm going to have my hubby take a photo of me on the first of every month and then during that month I'm going to keep track of all the things I can do for the first time in a long time. Like first bath and first cutting of the toenails and first flight of steps without panting like a dog.
I'm also journaling and writing a book. Whether it ever gets published who knows, but I think writing is a great way to spend some time reflecting. It doesn't have to be fancy or grammatically correct, just your thoughts.
I have also picked up a couple books I always wanted to read and never have the time. I have also dusted off my Bible. It's been a long time since I did any Bible study but I think I might dive into one on my sick leave.
And of course I have my hand list of phone numbers of family and friends who already know that I am not a be by myself person and will probably go nuts sitting at home and trying not to think of food, so they are ready for me to "bother" them during this time.
I've enjoyed reading other's suggestions and will keep checking back for more ideas. Great post and good luck with the surgery and recovery and always feel free to contact me for scrapbooking supplies! : )
