Tomorrow is 1 year since I had Lap RNY. Happy surgiversary to all my "August" buddies. I can't believe the changes I've experienced in just this past year. I've lost 130 pounds. I'm a size 4. I'm no longer obese. I have a normal BMI. My thighs dont rub against each other anymore when I walk. I can exercise and I actually like doing it. I don't get tired from doing small things like I use to. I feel like I'm wonder woman. lol My feet have shrunk. I can walk upstairs and not lose my breath. I love that I can buy clothes anywhere I want. I feel "full" and love that feeling. I'm wearing a bathing suit this summer and I feel "comfortable" in it for the 1st time in 18 years. I love the daily "wow" moments, when I figure out something else I can now do that i couldn't do before. And last but not least, I feel "pretty". What are some of the changes in the rest of you "August" buddies that you've noticed? ~dori~

Topic: 3 weeks....3 pounds.....
I have my 1 year check up in 3 weeks. I still have not lost 100 lbs. Only 3 away. How frustrating, it feels like I will never get there. I am very happy with what I have lost. No other time have I been able to lose 97 lbs in a years time and keep it off. But I have not had much loss at all lately, I seem to have lost focus on my journey. ok I admit it I have gotten lazy. Any suggestions on how to turn this around and get my head back in the game. I feel like I can eat far more than I should. I think I am hungry MOST of the time. I do get all my vitamins in, and the majority of my protein. Excercise, yeah I could do better, but just not feeling motivated. I have only had what I call a dumping experience maybe once or twice, so nothing I eat "scares" me. Pasta and rices give me the foamies/unbearable pain, so I steer clear of those. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Topic: Congratulations!! August friends.
As I approach my one year date August 8th. Wednesday of this next week. I think of all I went through this past year. I started out rough but it was always exciting and interesting to see the "changes" in myself. I taught myself portion size and control. I got to buy clothes I hadnt in years. I have learnt to be humble, seeing others still struggeling on a daily basis with there wt issues and not wanting any surgery. I feel like a strong person (just to myself) that I had the strength and wisdom to help myself. I made a Hugh decision that would impact me the rest of my life -- the gastric bypass surgery..and I will admit that I had a sister that had it before me, with helped the coward in me tremendously...(in making my decision). I am not a different person but I am a more confident person in some respects. I hope you all too are happy and content with this surgery. Take care, Sue.

What has been the best moment of the last year for you? For me: I can run, walk stairs without counting them, buy a bra at Victoria Secret...and the best of all...Parasailing! I thank God every day for my surgeon and allowing me to come through this surgery and the last year! Truly the best thing I have done for myself! Would you do it all again??? Topic: Happy Anniversary To Me!!
One year ago today, I was in the OR at St. Barnabas hospital, having my insides mixed up! I could never have imagined how big an event that was at the time, but I am absolutely amazed every day with the gift the decision to have this surgery has been for me. As of this morning, I am weighing in at 155 pounds - 140 pounds less than I was the day of surgery. I am wearing a loose pair of size 10 Gap jeans and getting ready to do a 4 mile walk with my kids. I'm celebrating with a pair of underwear from Victoria's Secret - a big change from the big slice of cake I would have celebrated with a year ago. I haven't had an easy year - emotionally, it's a struggle when you lose food, which has been your best friend. I had a small bowel obstruction, which caused me to have emergency surgery and spend a week in the hospital. I lost a lot of hair and my fingernails got very soft. But here I am, no worse for wear, and feeling great. I hope you all have something special planned for your upcoming anniversaries. I am going to enjoy this new life to the fullest today. And say a prayer of thanks for the wonderful Dr. Michael Nusbaum, who brought me here.

Topic: RE: Salads - love 'em or hate 'em?
hey there, I totally dig salads, and prefer the steak salads to chicken... I add lowfat cheese in there and just sprinkle in the lettuce, however i do put cucumber and tomato onion in there too and then cut them up with my pampered chef salad choppers... do you have a set? they're amazing?
