Topic: Anniversary filled with gas!! help:)
Hi congrats to everyone who hit one year. Mine was Aug 11th. I was 283 and now 213. It will take me the second year to lose the rest of the weight. I am having a horrible time with this gas, it has become more foul. I plateaued from Jan- May, life issues, move change of job, etc. Then I started seeing my nutritionist again to help jump start things. She has me on all these supplements and protein shakes from Metagenics, (won't allow any other types). I am starting to wonder if some of this is the protein shakes or the milk. I have a protein shake every morning, and then the deadly odors begin. They slow up after lunch, then start again in the evening. I can tolerate cottage cheese and yogurt. Today I thought I would change things up and not have a shake for breakfast. I had an egg. No gas most of morning. I then had a protein bar (Protein Fusion by Metagenics) and guess what? It started after that. Does Beano help? I am not sure if this is lactose intolerance or what but I may try Lactaid also, but I just can't figure out if it is the protein supplements or the milk. Here I am a year out and I shouldn't have to be paying all this money for nutritional consults and $300 month in fish oils, bars, and Ultra meal plus shakes, as well as probiotics, and here I am, smellier than ever. My goodness I will never find a husband with this gas!!! Thanks!

Topic: RE: Need some advise and help 1 year out
My surgeon told me when you hit a plateau or a stall that you can up your weight loss again by eating nothing but salads and protein shakes for 2 or 3 days. I never tried it because when I hit a plateau I usually lose 5-10 lbs in the next 2 weeks. A lady I know who had surgery 1 mo before me did it and it helped her to drop 10 lbs in several days and take her under the 200 lb mark.
Good luck!

Body loves them too. No longer have constipation issues at all!

Topic: RE: 11 months out......What are yall eating??
Hi Larail,
I like to make it very easy for my every day. I eat the following most days (not all in one day) Fried egg sandwich on low cal wheat bread or a egg burritto, SouthBeach Protein bar, fruits, I like cottage cheese mixed with parmasean cheese, a sandwich with low cal meat and low cal wheat bread with mustard, avacado, canned green beans with garlic powder, brocolli sprinkled with paramasean cheese, grilled on the BBQ chicken or steak with baked red potatoe sprayed with butter spray. I should be eating more fish, so will try to do this in the future.
When I go out to eat, I do eat enchilladas or quesdillas or meatball soups or chicken soups when I go to Mexican rest, Jack in the Box Chicken Fitatas Pitas, Chicken platter at Red Robin, I eat Pizza occasionally but try just eating toppings. When I do go out to eat I am able only to eat half and then I take rest home for later on.
Have you all noticed that you crave more healthier foods. I wouldn't ever go to Chinese but my spouse occasionally likes to go there. So I will get the shrimp brocolli or beef brocolli or just some soup. I would rather not have pizza the way my spouse likes it with all the fatty toppings on top. I would rather have the cheese or veggie pizza. I do like to eat a few of my spouse's french fries though.
My body does better with heathier foods than all that fatty stuff. That's why I love this suggery.
Blessings,
Lavon
Topic: Are you at your goal? I have a question
I am only 15 lbs from my goal. I went in for my 12 month post op and weighed 135lb. I am 4'11" so I originally had my goal to get to 115 but lately changed it to 120. The PA I saw at the Dr office said she would be okay if I stayed at 135. I told her I wanted to get to 120 and she said that Gastric Bypass patients look too thin if they get to goal.
So what about you? Do you look too thin? Everyone at work is staying I look good and don't need to loose anymore. I am bottom heavy and really think the rest of the 15 more lbs will come from my hips and thighs. Some think I will loose more in my face, neck and upper body. I don't think so, but if that is the case, I may slow my weight loss down.
Let me know how your experience has been. For more info I started at 239 so have lost 104 lbs so total I will loose will be 119 if I get to my goal of 120. I have been exercising at the gym since Sept 2006 (one week after my surgery in 8/2006)
Any help you can give will be appreciated.
Blessing,
Lavon
Topic: RE: Yesterday made one year
Congrats!!! You have done so great. I have been thinking about your idea about a gift for the office and I would like to do the same. What about a framed inspirational poster? Something that means something to you, but also can inspire others. I think that is what I am going to do.
I have lost 118...100 since surgery...and am sooooo thankful and excited for all of us.
