Topic: RE: Almost 3 weeks post-op
I am 3.5 post op.
My Nutritionist asked me to be thinking about what I might want to eat - I RAISED MY VOICE AND EXCLAIMED "GREENS"
Doing ok with different things- fluid intake is working better now that i use hot herbal teas instead of depending completely on the 32 oz jug of Crystal Light.
My surgeon will not tolerate Protein Shakes- he wants us to gain our proteins from foods we need to eat- this is tough on me- I crave a creamy shake. Have all the stuff to make it too. Had a teaspoon of my husbands the otehr day- blessing it was good.
So I did all the different beans pureed in the Magic Bullet. White, black, Refried, have not made the hummel stuff yet, turkey chili is very very tastey as so is bean with bacon soup!
I too bought a couple Isopure drinks with the high content of Protein, as I am having to write everything down and show this report each week I will not lie on it nor take the approach of being deceitful- so I will work in a few ounces of this Isopure LATER after I am on whole foods again.
Only 41 pounds off total from pre op and post op- my face is showing this and so is some of my lower back and waist. I think I am two dress sizes smaller I can get into a 24 church dress when before my gut and waist would fill up a full 26/28
Would love to hear more from ya'll

Topic: RE: A little more tired
Glad to read this post-
I am 3.5 weeks post op and I too am feeling a bit sluggish by this time in the afternoon.
I am on 200-400 pureed calories and though pretty sure I am going to whole food after the nutrition calls me this Thursday I am toughing it out with pureed bean with bacon soup, cottage cheese with chicken meat, cream of wheat with a baby teaspoon of sf jelly ( yummy this helps ) sometimes just Dannon Light yogurts found the ones with 60 calories only in Vanilla, Strawberry and blueberry (variety helps) I did like the salmon patty ground down into cottage cheese for a few days and turkey chili- none really is appetizing to me now. I do like to lick a tablespoon of peanut butter ...
Slowly moving - but I was 14 pounds before surgery plus 25 after up to Sat which is 41 total pounds of toxic fat out of my body...I found the easiest way to pump the fluids is those hot herbal teas! I can get two 16 oz cups of tea down plus another 16 oz of chicken broth- by the way the calcium disolves better in hot liquids than my jug of Crystal Light. But I am slowly walking- need motivation with the knee joints that were replaced and how do ya'll deal with the PMS cravings?:-l

Topic: A little more tired
I am almost 3 weeks out and I am feeling a little more tired now than I did when I first got home. I am getting between 300 and 500 calories a day and average around 50 grams of protein. I see my doctor and nutritionous tomorrow so manybe they can help me get in more protein. I must admit that I am getting really tired of purees and have to make myself eat. Hopefully they will advance me to soft foods tomorrow. This doctor tends to advance people fairly quickly. I came out of the hopistal on purees. Other than being tired I am feeling great. I went to PCP today and have lost 30 lbs since surgery and a total of 49 lbs. I don't think I have weighed this little in 7 or 8 years.

Topic: RE: Stuck Food
I am having a bit of a hard time eating. I mostly stick with refried beans. chili and cream of wheat with cheese. Those go down easily. I tried some tuna with a bit of light mayo today and I could only eat about 2 bites. Just did not go down right. I am doing at least 1 protein shake (if not more) every day. I am also drinking a lot.
Foamies do not sound good. At least you had a vacation!?!?!
Did you drink a lot of water on your trip? I have the hardest time on the weekend when I am out and about.
Good luck this week!

I know that is going to help me alot!

Topic: RE: I realized something this weekend.....
OMG I feel ya honey.........same here.......I just returned from 5 days at the beach with my entire family........all 14 of them ATE CONSTANTLY.....and would all say sorry you cant have this, please go drink some protein....
at times it got to me but not as much as the disgust over noticing what all I would have eaten had I been able to...I would have snacked constantly just like them.....
I have always said FOOD wasnt why I was this big...cause I eat less than anyone I know...but.....once you realize things you would eat if you could...it blows your mind.
Im proud of us too........Im just scared Im not eating enough......I dont have the courage to try as many things as others do.......
They had all that seafood at the beach and I only took nibbles of some talapia and it got stuck! OUCH!
good for you for going walking......I still dont have the energy to! I get so TIRED!
Topic: RE: Almost 3 weeks post-op
Great post here....I know we are all wondering the same things....
I know I dont eat enough and Im terrified to try new things...I havent lost in the past 5 days and Im struggling to find my right recipe for success.....
sounds like you guys are trying more things than I am...
Can we have orange juice? I surely miss it......
I cant ever seem to eat 1/2 cup of anything at all........I have had bites of:
turkey chili
talapia (got stuck.......OUCH)
lunchmeat
cheese
wheat thins and squirt chz
pudding
apple sauce
pintos &
bananas
then milk, popscicles and fudge bars hold me over......
I just received my unflavored Unjury protein so maybe I can get creative like you guys have.........Im tired of my chocolate protein already!
You guys seem to be doing great!
Topic: RE: Stuck Food
OMG YES!!!! Twice last week.........first time was obviously too big sip of COLD unsweet tea.........then the next time was like you...a bite of Talapia which I obviously didnt chew to death.......omg....it hurt so bad and scared me to death...I couldnt breathe and was salvating all over the place......OUCH!!!!!
What are you guys having all day? I dont think Im having enough of anything cause I didnt loose over my 5 days on vacation and I barely consumed anything...which was probably my problem........
