Topic: Hello August People!
This is my first post into this board. I had my surgery on the 15th of August. Since then, I have not had any of this "foamie" business, one dumping experience, and now I am at a stall. I have lost somewhere between 35 and 40 lbs ( i dont use my scale very often) and eat 80 percent protein. Im on solid foods, and have only really had a problem with sugar and poultry. is anyone else stalling? I am walking a lot, at least an additional mile or so each day, and now I have started to lift 3lb weights to try to avoid bat wings. Can anyone suggest some ways to jumpstart my loss again? -Misty

Just remember the reasons You made the decision in the first place. it was about YOUR health and better quality of life. It really does not matter what others think of why you did it, you owe them no explination. You might be the "talk of the town" for awhile, but soon - someone else will do something to get them talking and the only comments they will be making about you is how absolutely stunning you are looking!

Topic: RE: Help.......Having a problem!!!
Chris I had surgery on August 1st and went through the same issue at one point. I finally figured out that my wieght loss is on a "cycle" if you will I will lose almost a pound a day - for about 10 days. Then for about a week I will maintain that weight. The next week - I will bounce around (about 5 pounds up/down). then the cycle will start all over again and I will continue to lose. PLEASE do not focus on the scale so much. Our bodies are going through a tremendous adjustment. Just because you gained 1.3 pounds does not mean you are doing anything wrong. There are TONS of factors here. How do you FEEL? How are your clothes fitting? Are you losing inches? Just continue to follow the guidelines set by your doctor/nutritionist and you will do fine! This time next year you will look back and see just how far you have come!

Traci, I see you had your surgery just a few days before mine. What I have found really helps me with the liquids is nice warm peppermint tea and sugar free hot chocolate. Warm definitely seems to settle in my pouch the best. My nut says I need 71 grams of protein a day. I have the vials of the protein, they are foul tasting to me, but since they are only a few ounces, I try to get it over with as soon as possible. Tuna fish and cottage cheese all smushed together is a good source of protein.

Thank you Darlene, I was disappointed to see that that post was an advertisement as well. I am trying so hard to follow my regimen and get my vitamins in, which I hate because they taste awful. How do kids like them? I am also struggling to make my protein because I am just sick of drinking protein drinks. But, I shouldn't whine. I am losing weight and am so grateful to be alive and on the losing side of this surgery. Hugs, Trish

I also didn't tell many people. Just my husband, kids, and sister. I don't really have a suggestion, but I can relate to how you feel. I'm also really sensitive about the weight issue and I grew up in a small town where info travels fast. This too shall pass.

I'm right with you on the tired thing. I am a late bird but I am either napping or wishing I was napping all day long. I have the lap band and I'm back on solids but I'm still exhausted. My husband got on me about not helping more today, I don't know what to say, I'm exhausted.

Wow Trish! You are doing excellent. I am still struggling with my water but it is improving I must say. I am enjoying eating....I can't say that I won't need a protein drink now and then....but I trying to get as much protein through food that I can. Started my program at the gym today...could only do 17 minutes on the treadmill and 15 minutes on the bike...hoping to get better as the week progresses. Weight day is tomorrow.....started to work out with weights....harder than I thought. I have decided to only weigh weekly....I know I would become a slave to that scale . So I weigh on Thursday. Take Care! Traci

Hi everyone. The post below was sent to our board too, but I was really disappointed when it turned out to be an advertisement. So I decided to come over & wish all you August babies the best of luck with your weight loss surgeries. I am so thankful to have been given this wonderful tool & I only regret not having done this sooner. Don't forget to take your vitamins! Now would be a good time to start getting into the habit. Hugs, Darlene

I am exactly three weeks out today. I just moved to pureed food and will be on it for two whole weeks before graduating to soft foods two weeks from now. My protein goal is 78 grams a day. My liquid goal is 64 ounces, but I usually get more than that. I was encouraged to get more exercise in to get more energy, and I found it works. The more I walk and ride my recumbant bike, the better I feel. Make sure you are getting your protein and liquid in, and make sure you are walking everyday. Hugs, Trish
