Topic: Anyone else hungry?
I eat my normal three meals a day but lately I have been getting hungry. I had open RNY on 8-9-06 and I get about 65-75 grams of protein a day. I just get hungry every 2-3 hours. Is this happening to anyone else?

Topic: RE: Hello....How much can you eat???
Same here--at my checkup yesterday, we were given handouts that said that at 4 weeks post op your pouch should hold 1-3 oz of solid food per meal, depending on the consistency of the food. It also said that over time, the pouch will naturally stretch/relax to where it will hold anywhere from 4 to 8 oz (1/2 cup to one cup) of food per meal and that your ability to eat more may increase over time. It said that once you are able to eat about a cup of food per meal, you need to star****ching the calorie intake... We were also told that as of now all restrictions were gone. We can eat anything we can tolerate well. No need to puree anything unless that is the only way we can handle it... No foods that we can't eat as long as they don't make us sick... And wouldn't you know it, today I can keep anything solid down again! LOL I think they jinxed me! LOL If you are 3-4 weeks out, 1/2 cup is NOT too much unless it leaves you feeling stuffed and like you have eaten too much. My pouch gets very uncomfortable after about 1/2 cup, so I know that this is my limit unless it is a thinner, liquidy consistency. Then, sometimes I can eat more---like really thin soups with no chunks of anything. (say cream of chicken)

Thanks guys. I was really surprised too! I'm kind of worried though because I know that the scale slows down after your first month. But it sure would be nice if the scale would move like that again over the next 4-6 weeks!

Finally after almost a week I got myself to the Y and water walked for about 40 minutes. At the time I didn't think I was doing anything but let me tell you my knees hurt now so I must of done something. Plus you would think that sheer panic in the deep end would burn more calories. I may take swim lessons the next session. I'd love to learn to swim and they are only offered in the morning. I will need to take them before I go back to work. I figure I'll start looking the first of the year. I'm on disability now but should be able to work soon. Dianna

Hey there... I had my 1 month check up yesterday and they said I should be able to fit 1/2 for each meal but to test it and see.

I feel the same way. I've lost about 40 lbs and it just doesn't seem real. I feel like I am just going in a daze. I can tell my clothes are bigger but that's all. Wonder when it will sink in. Congrats on your loss. Your doing great. Dianna

Que has been updating us about once every 2 days. Her and her husband went in and had surgery on 08/10/06 and Tom has had lots of complications. Here is a link to her last post. http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/TX/postdetail/206096.html?vc=0 Please show your love and support and prayers. Que is doing well hard she had surgery the same day and had to awake to her husband not doing so well I am sure it was hard on her not much rest time no time to figure out what she could eat which ones she could not by spending all her time by her loving husband. Thanks guys and gals.
