Topic: RE: Help me August people
Unless you're made of sugar, or are related to the Wicked Witch of the West, there is no reason you can't walk in the rain. So what if you get wet? Would you rather eat? Even if you don't have an umbrella you could still go...I'd get an umbrella, though, unless it's too windy, then I'd buy a hat. I'd be wary of telling myself I can't exercise because of this reason or that reason. Don't get me wrong, though. I really have to make myself exercise.
It was also said to find some other stress relievers...cleaning, journaling, knitting or some handsy project, bathing, showering, driving...there's lots to do if you really want.
I wish you continued success and a downward spiral on the scale. YOU CAN DO THIS!

Thanks for the support from everyone. The scale is moving again. Yes, I know I shouldn't weigh everyday but I just can't resist. I have hated the scale for nearly all my life and now it's kind of a friend. For those in stalls, hope yours ends soon.

Topic: RE: Hello....How much can you eat???
Hi. I can eat 1.5 to 3 oz, depending on what food it is. Like it was said, the denser the protein source, the less I can eat. We buy chicken from Schwans (I HIGHLY recommend it!) and I can only have a little bit. (Okay, a TINY bit compared to how it used to be!) Here is an example of too much: We went to Popeyes Chicken the other day...I bought a thigh and a red beans and rice, knowing that I would only have a few bites of the red beans and rice. I ate -almost- the whole chicken thigh MINUS the skin, and a couple very small bites of red beans and rice and omg I was TOO FULL. I had weird little pains in my pouch, and I knew I had overdone it. Okay, now before this surgery I could eat like 2 or 3 pieces of chicken, skin and all, plus the whole serving of a small red beans and rice. And now getting overly stuffed on what tiny amount I just ate? Sheesh! No wonder I'm shrinking!
I wish you all continued success and a downward spiral on the scale.

I also gained a lb when it was my time of the month. And actually, right before that I plateaued and the scale didn't move for like 5 days. I did NOT panic! I know I am going to be successful. If you tell yourself you are going to fail, and that this surgery won't work for you, then all it does is cause mental anguish. If you are eating right, and EXERCISING, then this should work. Don't freak out but give yourself kudos. Don't get me wrong, though! I had the thought that my surgeon didn't really perform the surgery on me, and I wasn't going to lose weight. Okay, maybe that's a delusion, LOL. But it's true, that's what I thought. I had to talk myself out of that one! Next funky thought of mine was the same as yours, "This surgery isn't going to work for me." I even know of someone who had the surgery and didn't get all trim and slim. She DID lose weight, and I just told myself to shut the h*ll up and quit tripping on the stupid stuff. Pat yourself on the back, feed your brain good messages, keep a positive attitude and follow the diet and exercise plan. YOU CAN DO THIS!!

Hi. I weigh myself daily, but some people can't handle the stress of plateaus. I did plateau about 3 1/2 weeks out, but it was totally because of my period, and after about 5 or 6 days, the scale started moving again. I know that with the amount of food I'm taking in, which is about 2 to 3 oz at a time depending on the food, my basal metabolic rate alone is working to help me lose weight. Then exercise boosts that. I do sometimes get a little worried that this might not work for me, but I really think that's me just being paranoid. If I'm a year out and haven't lost anything, THEN I'll be freaking out!

Topic: RE: Anyone else hungry?
Hi. I must say that all my hunger is head hunger, except for a few times when I don't eat for like hours. I find that after 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 hours, I do get really hungry. So I've been trying to make sure I eat every 4 hours. But as I said, my hunger is head hunger. I will wander into the kitchen and open the fridge and think, "Hmm...what is there in here for me?" Then I realize what I'm doing and close that fridge door! I am also a tea drinker, and I've been adding milk, which helps my protein intake. NOTHING makes me sick or ill. I have not vomited or gotten nauseated at all since my surgery--one month tomorrow. I do not crave sweets and won't go there. However, all this is due to how I was BEFORE the surgery. I have always had an iron stomach, and nothing has changed. Also before the surgery I was never a big sweet eater--candies, cookies, cakes, etc. Just didn't like 'em. NEwayz, I thought I would throw in the "head hunger" issue just in case some of you are suffering from that like I am. Also, make sure to drink and drink and drink between your meals. Sometimes we may think we are hungry, but really we are thirsty.
Oh yeah, my doc told me that we should be losing an average of 20 lbs a month for the first three months, so if you are close to that, you are on target.
I wish you continued success and a downward spiral on the scale

Thanks it helps knowing that I'm not alone. I spoke with my Surgeon and he expects me to be eating 2/3c each meal. I am only eating 1/4c so maybe that's why. I will start eating 6 small meals though like a pc of fruit or something. I really just never expected to be hungry after surgery. I also drink green tea every morning and I think that helps a little. I haven't really started craving sweets yet except when I start my period. I bought some fresh fruit last night and if I do get hungry today will be eating that in between meals.

Hi Traci
I eat 2oz (1/4 cup) 5 times a day.. 6, 9, 12, 3, 6
70% (3 tbls) protein & 30% (1 tbls) veggies
I was told the constant nourishment keeps your blood sugar stable and your metabolism going. I was also told to never "drink" my calories..its too easy to take in too many.
Hope that helps! Good Luck!

Topic: RE: Anyone else hungry?
Hi, yes I get hungry too. I find I have 3 meals and 2 to 3 snacks a day. A snack might mean an apple (peeled), cheese string, yogurt or cracker and tuna. I also have become a tea drinker again as I get tired of the water, for some reason it does not really appeal to me when I have to take little sips... I can usually drink a whole cup of tea.
Lately though I have been starting to crave sweets. I had my first cookie the other day, it was good! lol I need to watch that though. Some days I am hungry and other days I could care less if I eat anything.
now the topic made me hungry...going to have a cup of tea instead...
Cheers!
Cindy

Speak to your nutritionist. Your blood sugar may be low. My nutritionist says I have to eat six small meals a day. A meal could be a glass of milk.
Good luck.
