Topic: RE: Tired, no energy
I am four weeks out, almost five. I am still getting tired a lot. I don't know my caloric intake, but I am struggling to get my protein goal met these days. I just hate the thought of drinking my protein drinks.
My energy level was at its peak just before the surgery. I was working two jobs and very active. Now, I am feeling like a blob.
They say it gets better.
Hugs,
Trish
Topic: 5 weeks out today
As each week passes I feel better and better thank God. I'm tolerated most things I eat very well.
I try to eat a good bit of protein because a lot of the shakes I bought were pretty nasty. But I tried the powder I got from walmart last night and it isn't bad at all. Thank goodness.
I notice a lot of people eating chili but I have a taste for some spaghetti. Not the noodles but the meat and sauce, lol. I know that seems strange but I've been really craving it. I think it's so strange that I haven't been craving sweets. I used to love cookies and pies and anything with sugar. But I haven't really given them a second thought.
I'm doing better on my liquids. Still not getting 64, but I'm close I'm getting in around 50-55. I need to up my walking over the next few weeks and I'd like to join the gym by mid October.
My face is breaking out, and I'm not sure why. I'm drinking a ton of water so I thought that would be a good thing but I may have to try some vitamin e or something like that.
So far so good. Down 40 pounds and pleased with that.
Hope everyone is doing well.

Good for You Tanya!!
I started with a personal trainer about 2 weeks ago - and Some days I am SOO sore! But I can see the results already, so I am going to stick with it!! That is wonderful that your trainier is post WLS also - so she really knows what you need!
My scale also moved today - after a three week "resting" period! Hopefully we are both in a losing phase for awhile!!!
take care.
Topic: RE: Tired, no energy
I am a bit further out than you and I noticed that for the first two weeks I felt fine (well, fine considering what I had been through)
But in week 3 and 4 I had NO energy. Barly made it home from work and had to cra**** took till about week 6 for me to start feeling alive again.
Has your doctor done lab work yet? Mine did it at 4 weeks just to make sure I was getting in everything i needed. If you are not scheduled to see him for awhile - I would give him a call just to check to make sure things are progressing normally.
But remember -your body has been through a LOT the last month, so give yourself some time to heal and regroup!
Take care.
Topic: Tired, no energy
I wondered how everyone else is doing. For the past week or so I have been more tired with little energy. It takes all I can do to move. I've been getting in around 500 calories and averaging 50 grams of protein. I'm trying to up my calories and protein a little. I am finding my pouch is more finicky and upset than early out. The first couple of weeks I had tons of energy. Is this just part of the adjustment process. I did start exercising this week, but didn't go today cause i couldn't get out of bed. I'm 4 weeks out this week.

I cant believe how much I appreciate everyone for their support when I had my pity party the other day. I was so frustrated and starting to get depressed even.
Today, I woke up and the scale moved to 219 finally. I have not seen this number for 1.5 years now so I needed it more than anything. I also went back to working out and that could very well be my solution.
You are never going to believe my luck and God's graces. I went and bought 5 sessions with a personal trainer at 24 hr fitness. I met with her today at 7am and guess what???? She is 2 years post op from WLS!!!!! I now have someone who understands my diet, needs and struggles. She killed me though, I am hurting in places I did not know I had. LOL I also took yoga yesterday for a full hour. Cant do it all yet but I made it through!!!!
hugs to all,
Tanya

Topic: RE: Hello....How much can you eat???
Hi Pam,
Basically I can eat anything I can tolerate...lol, I usually have cottage cheese w/salsa for breakfast, raw almonds, a slice of bacon, cukes, something light for my snacks, refried beans w/cheese, etc. I can't eat beef right now (tried several kinds and I threw up) but I can do chicken...I'll try beef again in a couple weeks. Basically I'm just kind of experimenting to see what goes down OK. I dont eat canned veggies anymore...I steam or cook raw veggies (broccoli, carrots, mushrooms) and eventually will move up to raw...maybe
I like it alot, I'm never hungry, but since I started doing this I have noticed I have alot more energy thoughout the day. I'm at 6 weeks and have lost 40lbs, so I think it works well.
GOOD LUCK!

Tanya
I so know how you are feeling.
I am one day before you and I finally figured out my body is "cycling" sort to speak.
The first week of the month - I lose 1-2 pounds a day. The second and third week of the month - NOTHING! The forth week of the month - no scale loss, but I do notice changes in my body (clothes fit better, more energy, etc). Then the cycle repeats itself.
You have just been through a MAJOR surgery girl. Your body is adjusting. That does not mean the surgery is not working - it is doing exactly what it is supposed to be doing.
According to your tag line - you have lost 41 pounds - that is a bit over 5 pounds a WEEK since your surgery! When have you ever lost that before??
Please do not put so much faith in the scale. You are doing wonderful - exactly what you SHOULD be doing. Keep up with the protien and water and the scale WILL start to move again. This is NOT an instant fix - but I guarenttee you this time next year you will be staring your goal of 140 in the face!

Drink more water. The more water you drink the more you lose. I try to drink 100 ounces a day.

Topic: RE: DON'T WORRY, my August friends!
Jacie, I *REALLY* appreciate your reply, and your support of my post. I *DO* appreciate EVERYONE'S support of my post. I honestly posted it out of my love and concern for all the women on this whole website who were worried about failure and plauged with fear that this surgery was going to fail them. Okay, to be blunt, there will be SOMEONE for whom this surgery will fail, but the percentage is SO SMALL...it's prolly NOT YOU. So please, my buddies, take a deep breath and start to trust. Do what you are supposed to do, and think POSITIVE!
You are fortunate...you had a year to read the boards and realize that the weight wasn't just going to fall off, pound after pound, week after week. It takes some time for our bodies to adjust what they are going through, and our job is to keep on keeping on and be patient. I kind of figured it out from reading profile after profile...it was so cool to "meet" so many women and journey with them through their weight loss...I shared with them their hopes, dreams, set-backs, and successes. I'm a total profile reader!
NEwayz, thanks for your support...I do wish we could all read my post cuz most of it is common sense...some is just experience!
I wish you continued success and a downward spiral on the scale.
