Topic: Hey August brothers and sisters
My surgery was on 08-28-06 I have lost 48 pounds and am almost scared of trying new foods! Plus I hate spending a long time cooking for 3 bites of food. Plus with my schedule (single mom of 8 and 11 yr old boys). I am looking for quick recipes that anyone may have especially foods that travel down the rode well

I have sugar free chocolate pudding, canned peaches with no sugar added, just to name a few. I will even have an instant breakfast.

I had surgery on August 21, 2006, and I am doing fine. I'm down about 42 lbs and feel great most days. The problem is water intake. I'm having problems with constipation. I know fluids help, and walking, but how about fiber. Any ideas?

Hey Norma,
We had our surgery the same day !!
I am feeling great..How are you doing ??
what sort of Snacks are you looking for ?
I for one, love the babybel light cheese rounds, however they are filling, I usually eat this for breakfasy and it has 6 grams of protein.
I aslo have had a craving for something crunchy and a lady at my office had pork rinds with cream cheese (she is doing Atkins) I tried one and it was pretty good, not sure how good they are for you, I havent gone there again, but i am not into snacking right now, Thank God !!
How is your progress ??
My starting weight was 275 and this morning I was 240...-35 lbs, I can hardly believe it !
I feel awesome, there are days when liquids are an issue and others when I dont get all my protien in, but I guess its because we are so new...its hard to remember to eat and drink when you dont have the nagging hunger pains, that i have been used too !
take care and email me if you like !
Huggs,
Amie
Topic: RE: Addicted to my scale....
I am SOOOOO glad to see that I am not alone. I too am getting on the scale in the morning and at night. It is so addictive to see the scale moving in the opposite direction.
7 weeks out: 41 lbs lost. I know it would move more if I exercised more!

Hey there ladies...thanks for replying..sorry I started this thread late Friday then ended up being away from the internet all weekend so I couldnt view or respond.
It pretty much sounds like the majority of us are about the same....I really find comfort in that!
Thanks guys! Lets keep on rollin! Im so proud of you all...
thanks for helping me to not feel like a failure.
I worry about dehydration...do you run a low grade fever with it? I have felt kinda feverish the last few nights....strange....I have such a fear of getting it...yet I cant stomach drinking constantly....lets all pray that gets easier for us.

Hi Pam, good to hear you are doing so well. Good thread.
What I eat really varies. I am trying to drink my water, but lucky if I get 32 oz in usually. I drink tea now and that helps. As for eating, I usually have a half of piece of toast for breakfast, some tuna and crackers and maybe a fruit for snack and whatever is for supper, ie spaghetti with meat sauce...about a half a cup. If I think I have not had much for protein I will have a protein shake for supper or breakfast. I am not writing things down lately and I should be, but back at work and not finding the time. However I think I am doing ok, and not stressing about it as I was.
It is Canadian Thanksgiving weekend here, and we had our big turkey supper on Saturday night. I was a bit worried how I would handle it. This is what I had...one table spoon corn, 2 tablespoons potatoes with gravy, a bit of brocolli salad, a little turkey and a little ham. It all went down pretty well and I ate most of it except for the ham. If this had been last year my plate would have been heaping, but it was nice, I was still able to enjoy the tastes of the meal and not gorge myself. Later I had a sliver of pumpkin pie with whipped cream. Later that night there was birthday cake and I had a half of a piece of cake and ice cream of which I ate half of it. Now I know I did not need the sweets of pie and ice cream but really I am pleased. I did not dump and had a little taste of both....so I know it is possible to live normally, have the special family meals and still enjoy myself.
I am trying not to be obsessed with the scale, I was stressing for awhile there (week 4/5) when I had not lost, but have lost another 7 since then, for a total of 27 I think. It is not falling off as I thought it would, but my doctor said 2 pounds a week is what they want, so I will be happy with that. Just think by Christmas what a difference we will see/feel!!

Topic: RE: 5 wks. -32lbs.
Hello, tomorrow I will be 6 weeks post-op and I feel the same as you. The only thing with me is that I had lost 35 lbs and as of today I have GAINED 3 lbs. I don't know what's going on. I think that I may have to start over again with just liquids but I know that I not taking in a lot of calories not even 1000 a day my pouch wont let me. So I don't know what's wrong. Just hang in there we can't just loose that little bite of weight. We still have a long ways to go. Keep me posted on how well your doing.
