Lisa, You are doing great! My question is...how are you able to get in you protein on such small servings? Do you do shakes? Hugs, Traci

Hi Lisa, I'm eating between 250 and 350 per day. My doc told me to keep the calories as low as I could for as long as I could. My pouch is about the size of an egg. I don't mind eating so little though. I'm down 54 lbs. That beats my all time record high weight loss. I think how much one is capable of eating now has to do with maybe how much stomach was left intact. Apparently your doc and mine do similiar surgeries. Good luck. Carol

I'm between 500-700 depending on exactly what I have. I normally have my protein first and a vege and a fruit or starch SOMETIMES. I can eat about 2 tbsp of each of those things. OR 3/4 tbsp of something like spaghetti sauce wtih meat.

Wow! I am eating about 500 calories a day....1/2 cup of food. I do one protein shake a day...no smoothies, just milk and protein powder. Hugs, Traci

I buy mine at Affordablesupplements.com. Much cheaper, and you can get the 42 gr. of protein for almost the same price.

My program only wants me to eat 2T. per meal I know I have eaten about 3T at a time here and there, but it depends on the consistency of what I am eating. It appears that some of you that had surgery after I did are eating much more than this per meal. I was told only 300 calories a day as well. I do not move into 4 T. (1/4 cup****il month 3-so that's November 16th...a whole month away. What does your program recommend for portions at this time?? By the way--- I was told to lay off the smoothies. (Not that I was having many of them in the first place) My nurse put it to me this way: I could not eat a whole banana at one sitting plus the yogurt, milk & strawberries I put into it. She said that it is probably more than 300 calories. I was putting my protein powder in it to get my protein in. (This smoothie would end up being about 32oz) She says that since it is pureed, it will go down easier since we are now like a funnel. So, no more smoothies for me...

Topic: RE: Bread
Misty I had a piece of toast the other day (with butter) with the crusts cut off. It went down nicely. I haven't had a piece since, but that was what I wanted to eat then. Just chew it like you do anything else-to mush. I also had part of a bun with a hotdog. I didn't eat the whole hotdog-just about 1" of it with the bread..I needed some protein and I was on the run-got it at the grocery store & gave the rest to my doggie. Each program is different. I am in MN and they tell us to stay away from carbs since it doesn't contain any protein. They don't want us to fill up on a carb and not have room for our protein. In my opinion, if you want to try a piece of bread, try it. Don't expect it to go down just like before though. Use extreme caution. Take 20-30 minutes to eat your meal. Just sample the bread...see if it gets stuck. If it does, you'll know you didn't have enough moisture in your mouth to get it down and or you are not ready for it. Everyone is individual. ;) Lisa

Topic: RE: Feel like giving up
Nope! Never give up! You did this surgery to be healthier and no one else will get you there except you! You are losing weight more now than ever before in your life, so don't be so hard on yourself, sweetie! I have lost about 36 pounds and I do not compare myself to anyone else. I will be honest here-I don't know if I am getting in all my 64 ounces, but I try. I honestly don't know how much protein that I am supposed to have, but I eat that first. There's only a little space in there to fit any food, so I make it count. I know I am losing inches and the pounds will start to come off too. I just started working out-very lightly-every day. Regarding my period-I am normal on that since I am on the patch. It's a jem! I would be lost without it. I have pcos and my period would be all over the place had I not chosen to take it. One of the reasons I had this surgery was because I am infertile. Being on b-control pills doesn't help either (or any birth control method)-it only helps with the period. I had been birth control free until about 2 weeks before surgery-glad I got the patch. Don't give up on yourself. Don't feel like it's a race to get slim quickly. Think of it as your body giving itself some time to catch up with everything and figure itself out again. You don't want to lose a bunch of weight, but be all flabby, right? Sexy Sable-we're in this together, hon You'll be looking great in no time. Just keep up your end of the bargain and your body will do it's part too!! ;) It WILL come off, just make sure that you aren't eating things you are not supposed to eat. For example, I do not eat any sweets-the only exceptions: Sugar Free pudding-a little bit w/my meds since I cannot take the capsule form of my meds and my vitamins are sweet-but there's little to no sugars in them I do not even TRY sweets. -and believe me, I am a treat-a-holic---or was. I am sure you are doing all the right things, just keep faithful to yourself! ;) ((((hug)))) You'll be an even sexier Sable!! Lisa

I was just looking in the mirror today thinking to myself that I look the same. But you know what we can't give up and the truth is we've all read things on this website that describes exactly what we are going through, but now it's happening to us. We are going through so many different changes with our bodies and it's just going to take time. I decided not to weigh myself often at all. Once a month is it. When you look at some profiles it may get discouraging but think of it like this. We're not that far out yet. Give yourself a longer goal than just a couple of weeks. I keep telling myself that by Christmas/New years I WILL look different. And what that does for me is keeps me on track. It is hard and every day I struggle. Some days are waaay better than others. There have been days *not many* that I got my 64 ounces of liquid in. But most days I definitely get in my protein. I'd say to just keep trying and working hard at it. We knew this wasn't going to be easy, and this is just a test. I am confident in alll of my August buddies that WE will get through this and by this time next year, we will be OH veterans, giving great advice to the "newbies" who are feeling exactly like we feel now. So we have got to continue counting those calories, carbs and protein. Keep sipping, walking and working out. Keep a positive attitude eventhough it's tough as nails to do that when the scale is not moving. We are still so early out and this is just the begining for us. It will get better. I know for me in some ways it is better. I can eat mostly everything from my soft foods list (phase III) and feel like a normal person again. I can have a small meal with my family and have even eaten at a restaurant a couple of times. It wasn't my best experience ever because I couldn't have what I wanted, but I LIVED. I'm still here and I know I'm going to make it. Brighten up guys, I promise one day we will all be smiling and laughing about the early days and so proud that we stuck it out, and didn't give up. Much love to everyone! Leah

Topic: RE: Peanut Butter?
I bought the natural peanut butter and it wasn't bad at all. You can try that. If it isn't sweet enough you could always add a little splenda to it. I put the peanut butter on wheat thins. I have some sugar free jelly and thought of making a peanut butter and jelly cracker but haven't had the taste for that lol. If you ate a little, I don't think it'd be bad for you at all.
