Salads - love 'em or hate 'em?
I've been CRAVING them. I have avoided lettuce and other types of raw veggies for nearly the whole year, but caved in a week ago and had some salad. I made sure it was chock full of protein - chicken, cheese, a tiny bit of bacon, avocado - and very little dressing (but the dressing I had - OH MY GOSH - orange vanilla viniagrette!!!) - but I still feel like it was a waste in terms of nutritional value.
I didn't have any trouble eating it - it was pretty well chopped - but it did sit like a rock for a little while after. It hasn't deterred me, though. I had two other salad attempts this week. The taste is WONDERFUL.
So, how are you doing with salad - or are you skipping it?
I eat salads all the time. I LOVE them!!!
I couldn't eat raw veggies until I was 5 months post op but since then I've eatten salads weekly.
Why would you think they are good for you? We need to get in all food groups not just protein.
I'm below goal now and feeling great. I can't believe it's almost been a year.

I don't think they're not "good" for you, I just know I'm still pretty limited in how much I can eat, and since it's important to get the protein in first, it seems like I'm wasting stomach space with salad.
I think I'll add the salads in a little more regularly - just enough to keep the cravings at bay - until I get to a point where my calorie intake is a little higher.

I love them too! I ahve been eating them for about 6 months. I try to eat the meat, cheese and other proteins off it first, then nibble on the remaining. Of course, you shouldn't use iceburg lettuce but opt for the fresh spring mix or other fresh blends. They are better for you. Throw in some spinach too!
I started at 370. Today I am at 202....heading for a goal of 170
