Just wondering what everyone is eating as we all get close to our 1 year aniversary??? I worry some days that I have really increased the amount that I can eat!!! I have gone from 254# down to 146# for a total loss of 108# in 11 months but it has really slowed down over the last 6 weeks or so. I am wearing a size 10. I have already lost what my surgeon recommended so I guess I should be happy!!!!

Larail, I have lost 150 lbs. in 10.5 months and I am hoping that by my surgiversary (8/30/07), I will have lost another 5 lbs. because then I will have lost more than I weigh! lol I have gone from 309 to 159, and wear a 12 petite... amazing to think that less than a year ago, I was wearing a 5X. Even my feet have gotten smaller...I no longer need a WW shoe...regular width fits just fine. The weight loss has slowed down considerably but that's okay - we need time for our skin and minds to catch up with what our bodies have accomplished. I have a protein shake for breakfast, 1/4 cup of tuna and 1/4 cup of tomatoes for lunch, 1/4 cup of chicken and 1/4 cup of veg. for dinner. During the day I might have a piece of SF chocolate,or a low-fat string cheese, or 2 SF cookies, or a few grapes or a SF fudgsicle. I also have one cup of decaf tea with low fat milk and lots of water. I go to the gym at least 3 times a week...I try for 5 times but can't always get there...I do a combo of aquarobics, treadmill, and weights/toning machines. I take 2 chewable vitamins, 2 chewable calcium and a B-12 every day and my labs have come out perfect every time so far. This has been an amazing journey for me...I feel so well, I have so much more energy and while I have no way to know what the future will bring, I would do it again in a heartbeat. Hi! Sorry you haven't gotten more response to your post. It seems like we check in less and less as we get farther out! For me, what I eat varies greatly and is reflective of my moods at times too. I still eat very little bread as I just don't want it. But, I wasn't ever much of a bread eater as a preop. I eat a lot of meat/animal protein. I eat a lot of cheese. I don't eat nearly enough fruit and veggies. I get 60 to 100 ozs of clear liquids in each day. I can eat about a cup to a cup and a half of chewed food and my surgeon says this is the expected amount that we should be able to eat after our pouch is completely healed and relaxed. By this I mean that what I can eat at one sitting would fill 1 to 1 1/2 cups AFTER it is chewed, not as it lays on the plate/dish. We all know that you can put a lot more pureed food into a cup than bulky unchewed food! Do I eat this much as a rule? NO. But, I can when I want to. I pretty much only do so when I am behind on my protein for the day and need to get in more via one meal/sitting. I've lost 168 pounds now and over 130 inches. I've gone from 410 to 242. I feel so much better and have more energy to do stuff! Hugs, Lea

i'm down 163 pounds and am very pleased... I always start my day with my protein shake, then for lunch it varies, however usally chicken grilled with salad or tuna or steak... i just bought some protein cookies from the 'protein bakery" REALLY GOOD... snack, or some soy crisps for snack or a south beach bar.. or my sinful snack lowfat pb crackers... i say sinful cause i crave these and have made a decision not to buy anymore cause they are trouble for me...dinner, usually more salad or a protein shake.. I do love wendys chilli and ruby tuesdays white chicken chilli yummy.... I eat lowfat cheese or cheese sticks... string cheese and occasionally an egg or two... I can eat a cup of chilli, however when it comes to meat, i still only do about 4 oz and then maybe two ounces of a vegie cut up really well, it depends so i eat between a 1/2 cup to 1 cup at a serving depending on what it is... I get sick off of sugar free chocolate and have never tried the real stuff,,, i'm very strict with sugars...

I can eat just about anything I want. Today we had raw oysters brought up from Fla! OMG they went down so nicely!!! I am sure I got my protein in today LOL Usually I have either a protein shake (Body Fortress) or high protein Oatmeal for breakfast with a cup of coffee. For snacks I use the 100 calorie snack bags. These are for when I just gotta have something salty crunchy. Hits the spot! Lunch is usually either a can of tuna with just a little mustard (mayo still makes me sick as does most oils) or a couple of slices of roast beef (4 slices from the deli is 1/4 a lb!) Dinners are rough for me as I still don't like to cook for the family. I make something quick and simple for the children and then struggle to get something that I even want to eat. I am planning on dragging out the crockpot this week and start making dinner again. I usually make a large (as in monster) pot of something on Fridays. Soup or chili... and we eat on it Friday night and all day on Saturday. Sunday we eat out for lunch and dinner with couples from the church. I started at 370 and weighed this morning in at 201... almost in the 1++ range. I can hardly wait until the scale starts with a 1..... My 1 yr apt is the 24th of August. One year and one day.... The doctor said if I was under 200 lbs he would consider the surgery a sucess. So I guess it will be, but I wanted to be at the 170 range. That was probably a bit of a stretch but I am so happy with here I am now compared to a year ago.

I usually have three protein drinks a day for 60 grams and then eat the rest to hit somewhere between 80 and 100 grams. I still don't each much bread and I definitely don't eat pasta...makes me hurt. I don't eat anything with more then 10 grams of sugar. I hit somewhere around 900 calories a day. I've lost 143 pounds and am 38 away from my goal. I would of like to hit my goal before my 1 year appointment but I don't think that's going to happen...but it's ok. Every pound lost is a step in the right direction. Congratulations to all of us! We deserve it after all this hard work. LeAnne

I had my surgery on August 1st, and I'm scared of a lot of foods LOL! I hear how sick some foods have made other people and I avoid them like the plague. I eat a lot of soups, beans, and just started to add salads with protein (eggs, chicken, cheese, etc.). I can eat a little of most proteins - chicken, steak, most seafood, although shrimp for some reason sticks and I can't eat it. We had scallops at the Japanese restaurant the other day that were so good, I think I could have eaten them all day. I'm using protein bars in place of the shakes, even though I know the protein isn't as beneficial. I've just always had a hard time with the shakes, and some of the bars are really tasty. The Power Crunch bars are almost like cheating! I've had a bit of a taste of no sugar added ice cream. It hit the spot at the time, but not something I'd buy every week (plus, for the first time ever in my life, the half gallon lasted a couple of weeks). And when I feel like something snacky, I eat either some sliced up cheese, pretzels with cream cheese or peanut butter, or crackers with peanut butter. I am down 140 pounds, from 295 to 155. My goal was 165, which is what I weighed when I got married. I would like to get to 140 now that I hit that goal, but my weight loss has pretty much stopped.

OMG all of you are doing sooooo much better than I am. I started August 28th at 228 and am 160 today...My scale wont budge and hasnt in months. I worry that this is it for me. Of course Im not complaining mind you...I wear a SMALL shirt (was XL) and a size 10 bottoms (from a tight 22).....but I really want to get to 145, my surgeon wants 135 but I simply dont see that happening. I get upset about it some days but know that its up to me to fight for the rest. My tummy is more picky today and it ever has been...there is no rhyme or reason to its daily likes and dislikes, so I just do trial and error with my foods. One problem is my love of bread is as strong as ever...and snacking...I love to snack on the 100 calorie packs or baked lite cheez-its and fruit. Im so proud of all of you...yall just gave me a kick in the rear that I needed to fight for the rest! Thanks!

Hi Larail, I like to make it very easy for my every day. I eat the following most days (not all in one day) Fried egg sandwich on low cal wheat bread or a egg burritto, SouthBeach Protein bar, fruits, I like cottage cheese mixed with parmasean cheese, a sandwich with low cal meat and low cal wheat bread with mustard, avacado, canned green beans with garlic powder, brocolli sprinkled with paramasean cheese, grilled on the BBQ chicken or steak with baked red potatoe sprayed with butter spray. I should be eating more fish, so will try to do this in the future. When I go out to eat, I do eat enchilladas or quesdillas or meatball soups or chicken soups when I go to Mexican rest, Jack in the Box Chicken Fitatas Pitas, Chicken platter at Red Robin, I eat Pizza occasionally but try just eating toppings. When I do go out to eat I am able only to eat half and then I take rest home for later on. Have you all noticed that you crave more healthier foods. I wouldn't ever go to Chinese but my spouse occasionally likes to go there. So I will get the shrimp brocolli or beef brocolli or just some soup. I would rather not have pizza the way my spouse likes it with all the fatty toppings on top. I would rather have the cheese or veggie pizza. I do like to eat a few of my spouse's french fries though. My body does better with heathier foods than all that fatty stuff. That's why I love this suggery. Blessings, Lavon
