can't take the heat
Is anyone else out there struggling with being out in the heat? I know I was told we were in danger of dehydrating faster after surgery but I had no idea how fast. I was at a motorcycle show last weekend and I couldn't stay out in the sun for more than 10 minutes at a time and was drinking water continously, I could hang in the shade ok for awhile but after 3 hours I was sick. I wasn't even sweating that's when I knew I was headed for trouble I have felt lousy and tired all week now.
I have never been a "sun bunny" but this is worse than when I was obese.
Anyone else?
I can tolerate the heat better than I could when I was super morbidly obese and taking several medications that made me more sun-sensitive. I can mow for 3 hours in an afternoon and not drop as long as I drink about 32 ozs of something cold every hour of the mowing. My daughter will usually bring me a big glass of iced tea and a towel and then take over pushing the mower while I rest and cool off a bit. She's getting better about it since I've chewed her out about jus****ching me mow a time or two! LOL She hates mowing with a passion. She knows that I feel it is good exercise for me, so she was acting like I didn't want or need her help in any way. I told her that unless she wanted to take her turn doing the WHOLE yard (about 3 acres of up and down the hillside), she'd better start doing better at supporting me while I do it! That has helped a lot.
I wonder if you weren't just already a tad dehydrated before this event? Then the slightest bit more was enough to push you closer to the edge of needing rehydrated or possibly even passing out? Maybe you were over tired too? Rest, rehydrate, and take care of yourself!!

I also find that I can tolerate the heat alot better now. Not only that I am turning the AC off more in the car and setting it at a higher temp at home because I am freezing!
