How are you doing?
I am almost 8 months out. I have lost 110 lbs since surgery. I have lost little to nothing in weight in the last 2 months. But I have my goal in sight. I am looking to get to 230lbs. I know the book and dr's say 190lbs. But 230 would be great for me. I started at 363 at day of surgery. I just got to learn to control my appetite somewhat. Talk to you all soon.

My surgery was 8-23-06. I have lost 133 lbs but the last 10 have taken all of this year! I am getting so frustrated.
I do have a hard time getting enough protein each day. I am not hungry at all and usually drink green tea from morning to night.
If pushed, I can eat about 4oz of steak, but I don't want it.
I have 100 lbs left to get to goal.
Sounds like we're in pretty much the same boat... I have lost 134 pounds, but still have 100 more to lose to get to my goal weight of 175ish... I am not hungry at all and have to make myself eat. I get 65 to 80 grams of protein per day but have days when that is harder because I sometimes forget to eat. I can eat 4 ozs of meat (steak, turkey or chicken breast, etc) in a sitting. Tonight I weighed up 4 ozs of turkey breast and had that with just a bit of mashed potatoes and had gravy on the meat too. I eat about 2 pieces of bread (very good whole grain bread) per month.
When I step back and look at the whole/big picture, I am doing everything I am supposed to and I am losing, just very slowly now... I guess it could be worse... I could be not losing at all even over a 3 month period! I've only lost 23 pounds since New Years, but that is still 23 pounds gone forever! I just wi**** was more like 23 pounds per MONTH, not per 3 months! LOL
Hang in there guys! It IS coming off...however slowly it may seem!
Hugs,
Lea

I am 7 1/2 months post op now, my surgery was August 9th 06. I have lost 96lbs so far and I am so close to 100 that I cant stand it. Was hoping to close out March by hitting the big 100. Not sure thats going to happen. I have lost maybe 20lbs since Christmas, it has slowed for me big time. I stall then lose a few and it goes on and on. I have noticed I can eat a lot more now then I used to. I get very worried and try to be more caucious. There is not too much that I can't tolerate. I started at 335lb and I am down to 244lbs.
Glad to hear everyone is doing so awesome.
I had my surgery on August 1st, and my goal was to be 165 pounds. I am hovering between 163 and 167, so I consider myself having lost 130 pounds, since I am most often at 165.
I really got stuck at 170 pounds, and didn't think I'd ever lose another pound, but then had a small bowel obstruction. I landed in the hospital for emergency surgery and a week of recovery on just IV fluids. I came home weighing 10 pounds more than when I went in, but after a few day**** the 165 mark!
I seem to be able to eat more of the things I shouldn't be eating than I can of the good for me stuff. I really struggle to get 3 ounces of tuna in, but I can eat 3 ounces of pretzels without batting an eye Except for protein bars and shakes, most of the real food protein gives me a hard time - especially chicken! I haven't attempted salad or any real tough veggies yet. I'm afraid of a lot of food, and that keeps me on the straight and narrow.

I have found that I like the spring mix salads with almonds and shredded meat on them. Taco salad is good to but I ask them to not put much lettuce in the bowl. With the meat, cheese, beans and salsa... it is great! Course I would love to eat the shell but don't.
I am now down 136 lbs and feel like things are slowing down for me with the weight loss. I still have 64 lbs to reach 170. Don't really know why I have picked that number as my personal goal except that 170 will mean I have lost 200 lbs. After my tummy surgery, I was told I would level out at about 150.
I have gone from a 34+ to an 18 so far!! This is too cool. I do go to the gym 3 times a week to ride the bikes for 30 mins. Once a week I take a water cardio class and swim on the other 2 days while at the gym. I would like to go everyday but life just gets in the way.
I agree that the bad foods are the things that I can eat alot more of.... give me pretzels or popcorn NO PROBLEMS.... give me a spoonful of tuna and I have to choke it down! LOL
OMG..I am soooo glad I came back to this site.... I have been AWOL for a while ..kinda getting used to my new body..new life.....etc. etc.
I started at 310 and had RNY on 8/24/06.
I have weighed 189 for about 8 weeks now and it is driving me insane!
I get 42 g protein w/ my protein drink everyday....could do better on the water....and I have to make myself stay away from the good stuff because I do not dump.
I was doing the math today and if statistics are correct (RNY patients lose 80% of excess weight on average)...then I should lose about 144 lbs total and I have lost 120. I hope I can exceed the law of averages but I am starting to get worried.
I excercise at least 5 days a week...4 miles of cardio in 45 minutes everyday and I do weight training every other day.
Any ideas on how to bump start this slowwwww metabolism?
Thanks for being there guys!
Christy
I never even weigh anymore so I am not sure if I am loosing or gaining. I just go by my clothes, I know I have had to buy new boxers and I only have one pair of pants that will not fall off I still have to keep my hand in my pocket to keep them up some times. But today I wore shorts to work and I have not worn shorts in public in 10 years I bet. I feel pretty lol,, Just joking just cute But I have 2 bad weaknesses one is jolly ranchers which I use a lot at night because my mouth stays so dry the other is good old sweet tea. Being from Texas it is a must have for me. Most days I will forget to eat and have to stop and find something to eat or I get a bit shaky and start getting dizzy. I forgot to eat today and had to stop and eat a taco from Taco Bell. But it is good to see I am not the only one with weakness. Well good luck.

How is everyone doing now? The scale finally moved some for me. I am down to 225 from 370. Durgery date was 8/23/06 so I am 8 months out with a total loss of 145 lbs.
Exciting and wonderful!! I would do the whole thing over in a heartbeat, even with my post op problems.
I am shooting for another 45 lbs which would be at 170 (a total of 200lb loss). I would love to be there at my 1 year post op visit in August.... hmmmm how many miles is that on the bike????? LOL
