Thanks for the support
Hi Everybody I haven't posted in a long time, so I thought it was about time I did so to thank everybody for their support in getting through my surgery. I was really scared and nervous about a lot of things that were happening to me, but many of the people *****plied to my posts put me at ease, and they were right.
I had surgery on 8-15-06 with a starting weight of 228. The highest I ever weighed was 230, maybe 235. The lowest I got to was 170, but I have creeped up a bit. I've learned not to beat myself up over it. I go back to the protein shakes, keep up the vitamins, and do some excercise.
Just after surgery, I was really frustrated because I had no energy. In addition, I was forced to retire from my job of 18 years, and was essentially treated in a hostile manner because of the medical problems. I was having problems with BG levels with type II Diabetes, and I had severe sleep apnea. I was accused of using drugs while working because of the way I looked and my lack of sleep because of the apnea. On two occasions, I gave urine samples, both of which were negative for drugs.
I look back now, just over five months after surgery how my life has changed. I'm off my BP and Diabetes meds, no more sleep apnea, and no more stress from my job. I do have to deal with anxiety and panic attacks due to the job loss and lack of money, but when you have your health and family, the money doesn't sound as important anymore.
For any of you "newbies" out there, I would say hang in there, just like many good people on this site told me. The energy will come back, and when you can fit into clothes you haven't worn in 10 years, it's a great feeling. If you slip up a little bit and start to gain some weight back, go back to the protein shakes (or if you can't stand them, eat just the good stuff) and start you're exercise up. The other day, to bring myself out of a bad mood, I put on my army dress greens that I haven't worn since 1989 AND THEY FIT. Talk about putting things into perspective.
I moved to Washington State in November of 2006, but I am moving back to Cali and starting my own business in about a month.
Thanks Everyone BigBear175
