August Surgery Roll Call!
My date is August 7th - one week to go! I am buying SF jello and Skim Plus milk today - got some broth last week and a little battery operated hand held fan - not sure if it works yet. I am working hard at work to finish things up as I won't be coming back here post-op. I start a new job on Ausgust 28 as a LOSER!!
What's great is someone at my new job had gastric bypass three months ago and is doing well, so I'll have support and someone to ask questions of. I feel so blessed!
All the best to my August colleagues - you are in my thoughts and prayers!!!
Chris
Hi Heather...What a great idea doing this. Or maybe it has always been done, but I just came across it. Anyhow...add me to your list, I just got my call this morning with surgery being Aug. 16th in Mi. WOW...they better save a spot on the "loser bench" for all of us Aug. dates. YEAH...I want to wish each of you the best of luck on your new journey.
Hugs & Prayers.

Hi Heather,
This is a great idea...I am having my surgry on August 22 and I can't wait. I am having an open RNY here in Tucson, Arizona. As for what to pack, remember to pack slippers....tile floors can be cold! Also everyone talks about how lip balm is a must! I too am loading up my ipod with some relaxation tunes as well as some walking the halls tunes. I am just bouncing off the walls. The time cannot go by fast enough! Good Luck with all your prep!

Heather,
Awesome idea. I'm going in day after tomorrow. I haven't packed yet. I figure I'll do it tomorrow. Things I will not leave home without? My Bible, my iPod, my cell phone, oh yeah and my hubby. I guess after that I'll pack stuff like toiletries and my father made me some gorgeous new nightgowns that button at the shoulder and down the front for easy access but they tell me I'll probably not want to use them and get them stained. But I figure that is what Shout is for and why not feel pretty while in the hospital?
I'm working today, Tuesday, then tomorrow I'm home on my liquid diet. Since I'm not a be by myself person, my father and sister are coming over to keep me company. My husband has to work yet tomorrow but will be off for the surgery and all next week. My sister is bringing my three nieces ages 13, 7 and 6. They are the joy of my life since I couldn't have children.
It is awesome to read everyone's posts and get great ideas. Wow, this is really going to happen in a couple of days.
Good Bless and you're in my prayers,
Kelle'
Heather,
After going through the pre-admission testing I now know what to pack. I'm August 21st and I can't wait!
I'm bringing my jammies, footie socks, cell phone, my pillow, bath supplies, and I'm going out this weekend and buying an i-pod and new sneakers - the ones where you can slip your feet into, so I don't have to tie them. I'm going to wear the clothes that I came to the hospital in to wear home. Not sure what else to bring. I'm sure I'll think of something else!
Ellen
Hey you guys!
My surgery date is Thursday, Augugst 4, 2006 @ 8:00 a.m.......can you tell I am obsessing...woulda done seconds if I thought I could be accurate
This I have learned from the other boards...take:
1. Flavored chapstick (they say its like a treat)
2. Your own pajama bottoms to wear with the hosp. gown
3. Slippers..not socks
4. A small portable fan
5. Tongs...(for those private moments)
6. Personal hygiene items (toothbrush..toothpaste..deodorant, etc.)
7. Facial cloths
8. My own pillow (for sleep and the ride home)
That's my list for now...gonna go read the other posts to get some more great tips!

Hello All!
My surgery (BPD with duodenal switch) is 8/14/2006 7:30am. I am nervous, excited, and grateful to be to this point. I know this surgery will not "cure" my issues with food and I am scared that I may not do what I am supposed to for me to lose weight.....I guess I got the pre-surgery blues.....
Good luck to all of you.
Can't wait to be in LOSERVILLE
p.s. thanks for the helpful hints on what to bring with you to the hospital.
