Hey August Surgery Buddies! Our month starts on Tuesday....What is your surgery date? What are you doing? What are packing for the hospital? If you are going in this week...let us know so that we can sign your surgery page and keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Good Luck everyone! Keep us posted on how you are doing when you get home...when you are not resting or walking ********************************************************** Heather T. My date is August 24th in Pa. I am organizing my house today and trying to keep my mind off of my PAT's tomorrow. I have not packed for the hospital yet, so I am interested to hear what you all are taking!

Hi Heather, Wanted to give a "Here" shout-out to the August surgery roll call! What a Great idea. This response to your invitation is my first ever communication on the site. I started the whole process of researching WLS 4 yrs ago and now my surgery date is August 7th. Now that its just around the corner, I wish I had discovered and been active on here much earlier. My surgery was supposed to be July 25th, but my doctor hurt his hand. (Help!) But apparently the injury is slight and so I was happy to grab a cancellation slot not long after my original date. I don't know if I've been living in a fog or what... because it's just hit me in this past week that I need to start thinking about that packing list. And the prep-list for post-op at home. I normally travel for a living and am SO used to packing at the last minute. But for the hospital stay, I hadn't given it much thought. I'll definitely be looking for all the hot tips everybody in the "August Renaissance" can provide. I'm also having surgery at a familiar hospital where my father has been a cardiac patient for umpteen surgeries & procedures. Their staff is Top Notch & "Uber-accomodating". If I were to forget anything,... I guess I just figured they'd take good care of me and get me whatever I need. HA! (Yeah, Right.) By The Way: Lots of Luck & Sincere Prayers for your Dad, as well as for you. Ramona Lisa, San Diego

Hi Ramona! Welcome to the August crew I was a lurker on these boards myself for a long time, but then found that I get a lot from posting...so keep posting!!!! You have no idea whose life you may be affecting (as many on OH have affected my life). I know what you mean about packing last minute...I will probably be packing on 8/23.. I am starting to think about songs to put on my iPod for all of my laps around the hospital But beyond that, I am just trying to past tomorrow! Thank you for the prayers, they are much needed and appreciated! Heather T.

Tuesday, August 1st is my day. I'm going grocery shopping to get some necessities that I will need in the next 4-6 weeks. Packing: mmmmnn, I should do that. I will pack this evening after getting some laundry done. Taking: slippers, robe for walking, Bible, picture of my daughter, lip balm, brush & hair clip. I'm sure I'm taking some other things, just not sure of what. Kristi

I am new here. My date is Aug 11. I am getting a little scared. The excitement still exists, but saying good-bye to food is hard to do.:'(

I just posted my roller coaster ride to WLS, but I wanted to touch base here too. My husband and I have a 26 year tradition of having . . . interesting . .. wedding anniversaries. During the years, August 11 has found us 8.5 months pregnant, in different states, moving, the first day of school, (I'm a teacher), desperately ill, stranded with car trouble, and so on. This year it will find us in the hospital, as I begin my WLS recovery. I will be having surgery the day before, on August 10th. But this opportunity gives us the chance for many more anniversaries to come!

Hey Heather, You are my Barix August Sister. Loved meeting you at the meeting in July. I won't be there this month,as I will be in Erie, earning some more graduate credits. I wasn't nervous till this week. I guess it is the pre-admission testing that is rattling me. I have to start cleaning my apartment. It may take all month to get ready for this, and I am going away for a couple of weeks. ACK! Well, I will see you at pre-admission testing. Stay cool. Hugs, Trish

I did my final bit of shopping for me and the rest of my family for the next couple weeks. Laundry - done Packing - done! (list is on my profile - I will update it with what I actually used when I return! pre op diet - done (nothing but clear liquids tomorrow) Tomorrow I am going to work in the morning, just to keep my mind off things! Then I have a couple people to see tomorrow afternoon, just to chat and make sure they know how I feel and what the next couple months will bring. Bowel cleanse starts tomorrow night and my angel it coming to town to get me through the night! I am sure I will be reading profiles tomorrow like CRAZY when I can. I will also take some time for me to read all the words of encouragement I have been sent - or collected of off peoples profiles, and to pray and meditate for awhile. Good luck to everyone this month and I will update as soon as I am home!!!
