August 11th in Texas

They set my surgery for Friday August 11th and I still have pre- op test to do on the 7th and 8th ( talk about cutting it short and if there is any problem then wont they move my date further away?) I am nervous obviously cause of the surgery and ability to change my whole world. I have to do a 2 week 1000 calorie all liquid diet before they do surgery so there wont be any cheating. I am scared of failing this cause my mind says "but you wont have this or that food ever again" such as sweets and red meat. I know that those are what got me here in the first place so I am in that catch 22 right now. Does anyone else have to go a diet before your surgery? Have you started your walking or exercise now before the surgery?

I will be with you in sprit on the 11th. I am having RNY in NYC on the same date. My Dr. does not have any special diet "requirements" but obviously not gaining and even losing a bit is preferred. Actually, I couldn't believe how lienent the food plan from the nutritionist was. I am on puree as soon as I get home. I thought I'd have to be on liquids for 1-2 weeks first. For the last month or so I have been doing my best to: 1. add in exercise 2. take vitamins daily 3. drink more water(pratice not drinking with meals) 4. try to chew a lot 5. be aware of "Last Supper Syndrome" and try not to go overboard 6. find a therapist who has works with WLS patients 7. find a support group in my area (I found one listed near where I live and have sent an e-mail for info.) 8. looking to speak to as many people as I can about their experiences so I will know what to expect 9. Thinking of things I can do in place of eating, e.g. have a knitting project with me so I can keep my hands busy so they can't reach for something that shouldn't go in my mouth! The most successful people with WLS seem to be the ones who approach this as a series of life-style changes. I am doing the surgery because I can't handle doing Weigh****chers one more time only to find out that in the long run, I am bigger than I was before. So I am looking to attack this problem from multiple angles. About not being able to have certain things after WLS - I keep telling myself that I will be lucky to have such problems!
