I am concerned that after the surgery, not eating will be simialr to the feeling I went through when I quit smoking. After several attempts I was successful at quiting smoking (10 yrs ago now!) - - but what finally helped me was using the patch. I wish there was some sort of patch that I could wear to ween me off head hunger. People say that they are not hunger after syrgery. That's great, but I eat even when I am not hungry! I am bit concerned about how I will handle things emotionally. I already told my DH that he better be prepared. I have also talked about trying to find a therapist to go to to help me with working through food issues.

Colleen, sounds like you are doing some good thought process before your surgery. It is not always true that ou loose hunger after surgery, but most of the time. But the head huger is someting to worry about. Normally you must go through a psy evaluation before surgery and they will help you process your emothional and head hunger. It will be good to work on that before surgery some if possible. I am sure that right after surgery you will be so busy trying to get in all you have to drink and eat that you will not have time to worry too much about too much head hunger. I encourage you to find a counselor that you feel comfortable with and plan on working out your emothions. thinking of you, Aunt Pam
