Anyone else going through this?? almost EVERYTIME i eat - i think, "wow - will never be able to eat that AGAIN!" I know I have gained and I really need to get this under control because my two week pre-op diet starts on monday I KNOW I will probably be able to eat things again, just in moderation - so WHY am I doing this to myself?? At least please reassure me I am not alone! thanks..

I will reassure you that YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!! I am going through the same thing. I wake up in the morning and tell myself that I am going to be good today and then I do good until about lunchtime and I want something. Its like the and on your shoulder, the says "you should not be doing this" and the says "You will be able to eat healthy foods again but not that CANOLI" lol I really do have to get this in control, I am having my surgery on the 21st of August and I meet with the surgeon on the 16th, he told me that I didn't have to lose weight but I did have to stay the same, WELL I BLEW THAT ONE ALREADY!!!! I really need to lose the 5 lbs that I put on since I met with him last! Where is the weight when you need her! lol Ok sorry for the ranting and raving but YOU ARE NOT ALONE! lol Michelle

I know it is to our own benefit if we can lose weight before the surgery. That said however, we are nervous enough, without the added pressure of, "He won't do the surgery if you don't lose the ___ pounds by your date." That makes me want to eat even more! If they had told me that I wasn't supposed to gain anything between my first visit and my pre-op, I probably would have been able to control myself more than I did. Sorry, just venting, while I wonder what delicacy I will have for dinner tonight! HaHa!

Hi Peppermint! You are NOT alone! I gained ten pounds since March. Just this morning, they told me I have to lose it by August 8th. I came home and pigged out again! Even though they told me that! I just feel I have to get everything in - every food I love - before D-Day. Eek!!!

I have a touch of this too, especially when I was on vacation last week. Now that I am back to the real world, I am trying to bring myself back. I think that I have become "sick" of eating....Nothing really appeals to me anymore. (This may change as I get closer to surgery). I am trying not to eat just for the sake of eating. Last night, I was a pre-op support group and they said that if you gain more that 15 lbs since your consult, they will cancel your surgery....Yikes!!! My consult was back in February! I think/hope that I am only within 5 lbs of what their scale read then! Good luck on your two week prep diet, Peppermint...I am sure you will do great Heather T.

Hi Heather, I didn't go to the meeting the other night because I was too sick from eating. (acid!) I gained 9.8 pounds since my consult and my nurse was not happy with me at my pre-op today. She said that their policy is that you can't gain TEN pounds, and I have to lose it or Dr. Brader won't do the surgery. They also found out that my thyroid is low and put me on meds. Hopefully, that will help me lose the weight a little easier. One of the other nurses told me that you just have to lose some of the gained weight, to show that you are trying. I think you will be fine with a five pound gain. You sound like you are really working at it. I wouldn't worry. The next pre-op support group is the date of my surgery! Eek! Good luck! I love these little faces! Risa

Hi Risa, I am sorry that you missed the meeting....It was really good! I hope you are feeling better. TEN Pounds...yikes! I can't remember what the scale said when I was at my consult...but I have a round about number! (I have been to my family doctor and weighed every month since then, so I can't remember what I weighed where! ) The good news is that I weighed myself last night and I had lost 10 lbs since I came back from vaca (water retention due to that time of the month)...I might be okay. I just have to stay in control, which is going to be difficult. I hope your pre-op testing went well! I am going on 7/31... Your date is coming up so quickly....I can't believe how fast July is flying!! Good Luck! Heather T.
