What are you doing while waiting?

Hi August Buddies! What are you all doing while you are waiting for surgery? Here is what I am doing: Reading every WLS book I can get my hands on (Current book-- WLS for Dummies). Organizing my house Obsessing over OH, afraid I might miss a post... Drinking lots of water and trying to avoid "Last Supper Syndrome" Daydreaming about next summer when (hopefully) the fights with my husband over the ceiling fan and air conditioning will stop (I think our bedroom is about 40 degrees and I am STILL HOT!) Thinking every morning how nice it will be not to have take a gazillon meds every day(God willing!) and last but not least..... Taking time to pray for those on the boards that they will: make a quick recovery, get through the insurance/pre-cert process quickly and/or remain healthy as they continue their post-op journey! So what are you doing?

I'm projected to have my surgery in August and all I do know is eat. I am exercising almost everyday - - I'm told that will help the surgery go better and my recovery. I wish I could lose a few pounds before surgery, but my desire to get the last bites of my favorite foods is overwhelming me!

I just got approved with a date yesterday, so right now I am still in the freak out stage! So much to do before then though - as you said read up on surgery and hang out here more. Making sure my house is in order and I am stocked with post-op food. and praying - that things will go smoothly, that it will all work out and that it will actually happen. I have waited SO long - it still just does not seem real to me!

~I too obsess over OH ~Trying to look at wedding ideas that don't involve my dress size...it's hard! ~Made a goal list of some things I definatly want to do post-WLS: *Ride every roller coster at Kings Dominion! *Learn to ice skate *Learn to ski ~My mom gave me some $ to do shopping for post surgery clothes, so I went to goodwill and got lots of various sizes, I look at them sometimes and get even more excited then I am now!

I've been in the process for six months thanks to surgery. I'm about as ready mentally as I can be. I'll be cleaning my house so I'm OK with my parents staying there alone while I'm in the hospital. Since I live alone, I'm also clearing out the cupboards and fridge of stuff I won't be able to eat after. All of that is going to a food shelf. I'm also organizing my clothes by size and hosting a WLS clothes swap one more time before Fall. (I hosted one in April to try and make the 6 months go faster). My friends from the Minnesota OH board have been absolute gems. They are cheering me on. It's so great.

I don't feel that this is real yet because it is still 7 weeks away. I would love to be enjoying different foods but my surgeon will cancel the surgery if I gain so I have been trying to stay on a diet and psyc myself into the fact that the more I lose now, the less I have to lose after surgery. I have already lost 52 pounds so I will just keep going. It is so easy to lose but I can't keep it off so I know I can after the surgery. Also trying to sleep with that darn CPap. I don't know how people do it all night, I can't get past the first 2 hours. Cathy

The main thing that I want to get done before surgery is make a final decission on the vitaims.. should they be the more expensive "natural" type or childrens chewable, liquid, or centuim silver (the color of my hair)????? such decissions has me on the computer for hours in search.... by August 2 I, Pam, WILL for sure have reached that hard decission as to what vitaim I will consume for the rest of my life, or until I decide to change it. trying to get things done that i know i wont be able to do in the garden for awhile after surgery. Writing letters to all the people i love ,just in case, deciding what i will take to the hospital with me. do i want to buy a new robe or take my old one that i love so much . I already have lots of broths, s.f. potcycles, protein, crystal lite powders to mix with water. by the time i can add other stuff i will hopefully feel like going shopping. . I am just having a hard time making myself believe that it is really going to happen in 6 weeks. good grief. that isnt very long. YIKES!!!!! Jan
