Well HELLO stranger!
I thought you had permanently left us. Sorry to hear about the tree and house, but glad it's getting repaired. I'm doing fine. Exercise hasn't been consistent and snacking has been more than less, but weight is holding fairly steady. I decided to go up to 140, vs 135 as I just could maintain that weight. I kept losing and gaining up to 5 lbs w/i a week - body just didn't like it. It has been much, much more stable and folks say I look healthier.
Hope to hear from you more!

Hi Jackie,
Well, at least your post got you and some of the other lurkers to actually post. ;o) I don't recognize any of the ladies who answered you. I think we've all just moved past talking about post-op life to now living it. Most of us regulars post at least 1-2 times a month. For me, this month has just flown by... I can't believe it's been so long since I was last on. I'll have to go check the Grad board - though I like how easy it is to find messages on our little board.

Hi Terry,
Sorry I haven't checked the board. I'm assuming you've talked with your doctor(s) about this. I wouldn't expect nerve issues to be from the surgery itself. I know I went through about a year, starting at month 9 post-op, of really bad irregular heartbeats, and liver enzymes being elevated. My body didn't like the fast weightloss at all. For the last 6 months life has been really good overall. One of the things the Mayo clinic noted was that some vitamin deficiencies can affect our nervous system - I know B12 is a biggie. Are you taking your vitamins religiously? Have you had your vitamin levels checked? If you're not taking OptiSource, I suggest them. They're simple to take and it's what my surgeon suggests and they've been tracking patients for 4 years and no one who takes them as they should have had problems with blood chem.
I hope you get some answers that help ya!

Topic: Plastic Surgery?
Hi everyone. I know this board has not been very active lately.... Probably somewhat related to the weather and everyone being so busy.
A question. I know some folks have had Plastic Surgery. I am curious about who has had it, what procedures and how you think things went.
I have an appointment on 6 August and am looking at getting the bat wings removed, tummy tuck done and breast lift/implants. Had a consult almost a year ago, but am ready now to do something.
I have Tricare Prime and am interested in knowning if anyone with Tricare Prime got it covered by insurance and how you went about it.
Any info is good info.
Hope everyone is doing well.

Hey Tammy. I just posted to Jackie's message about how I was doing but wanted to post to you too. As I said in my other post, I have never been much of a poster more of a lurker but I do come back and read the board especially when I am not doing great. I wanted to thank you for being so faithful about posting and sharing your experiences. It really does help others!
Congrats on your success and thanks again!

Hey Jackie and fellow August 2005 buddies! I have never been a big poster, more of a lurker but I do come back from time to time and like you more often when I am struggling. I had a tummy tuck in April and have had some complications but made it though it. I have been really lax in being compliant since my tummy tuck and I am feeling the effects and really need to get on track and be more responsible. I am not at my goal but am in such a better place than I was 2 years ago. I too am very open about the surgery and feel it was one of the best decisions I have ever made for myself. I wish everyone continued success and even if you are not at goal, never too late to get back on the horse.
Take Care,
Kelli
Topic: RE: Somebody help - what's going on?????
Thank you so much! That is so sweet of you to say! I am feeling a little better these days. I have lost 11 pounds in last 2 weeks (and first week was on vacation diet of fried dough, hot dogs, fries, etc) so I am feeling a little better. In fact, I discovered my home scale was 9 pounds off so it feels like 20.
Thanks again!! You made my day!

12: How YOU are Handling It -- Keeping busy
I want to get a membership to a health club. I have a busy schedule between work, Autism volunteer work, Boy Scout volunteer and surviving 2 teen boys! My 13-yr.-old is on the Autism Spectrum (Asperger's Syndrome/Gifted & Talented), is in Boy Scouts, School Band and I have a typical 15-yr.-old who is in Boy Scouts, Venture Crew, School Band. My husband & I volunteer with both the Boy Scouts and the Autism Society plus try to attend WLS support group when we are able.
We are doing a first ever family vacation! We are going to the Smokey Mountains hiking, white water rafting, etc. So I'm hoping that will jump start my exercise program. I'm in a 10-12-14, even some 8s. I have an incisional hernia at my waist so it makes it hard to tell what size in each piece of clothing -- not to mention some excess skin!
I alternate between being happy where I am and being disgusted I haven't done better. I am still self-conscious in shorts and swimsuits but at least I am willing to be seen in them (sometimes)! I need to get back to the program but still the best thing ever that I've done for myself! The last time I took high blood pressure, diabetes medicine was pre-op and shortly thereafter stopped the sleep apnea! I don't get fussed at when I go to the doctor -- in fact, she doesn't want me to lose anymore weight! I am anemic but I take Iron twice a day as well as multi-vitamin and calcium, sublingual B once a day. My health has improved tremendously which is why I did the surgery.
I SWORE I would be happy with the weight loss and NOT want plastic surgery! BUT, I would love to have a body lift and arms, thighs would be nice, too and while I'm at it the neck, too. Other than that...
I will try to post more but feel free to email me or myspace but email is the easiest way to reach me because of my busy schedule!
Looking forward to my 2-year Anniversary and 2 days later my birthday!
Hope everyone is doing well and having a happy summertime.
Anne
