Hey Tammy, I was never much of a gum chewer, but since surgery I have not had one piece of gum because I am scared I may swallow it. My friends laugh at me and say "why would you swallow it"? Be careful girl lol Take care Joyce

Hi Lori, From one woman to another, I too take antidepressants. I take lithium and a generic brand of prozak(fluocetine) cause my insurance won't pay for the real thing lol. I say go to your doc and get him/her to put you back on the effexor if it worked for you. I know from experience that you will only go further into your funk if you don't take hold and do something. Take care Joyce

Hello Bridget, I am sorry to hear of your situation. I just wanted to share that I had a similar situation happen. I had my surgery on August 29, 2005, which puts me about 9 months and have lost approx 120 lbs. However, I was on the OrthoEvra Patch. and had been since October, 2 months after surgery. On February 4th I found out I was pregnant. And on May 19, at 13 weeks pregnant I too miscarried. Now, I dont know if your aware. But they are pulling the patch from the markets as they are finding that women are having strokes. The following is a link to a site describing women who are suing J&J the maker of the OrthoEvra Patch. Its worth taking a moment to read. You can copy and paste it to your browser. Much Love Kimberly http://money.cnn.com/2005/07/25/news/fortune500/birth_control_patch/

I took them for years up until about 2 months before surgery. I weaned off of them and never got back on once I had the surgery. The way I have been feeling the last couple of weeks makes me think it's time to get back on them. Lately, I struggle daily with so much stress and anger. I am sure I am a bear to live with too! I was taking Effexor XR before. It worked well for the most part. But, if I missed just one dose, I felt like crap! I do know that there is a non-extended release form of Effexor. I was just wondering if there might be something else out there that may work better. I can't do Paxil (no big "O"), Prozac (gave me a rash), or Zoloft (ended up in the ER with severe anxiety). Lexapro anyone? I hear alot of WLS patients taking that with good results. I don't know what to do. I have a doc appt tomorrow to discuss it. I need to get out of this funk for sure! Thanks for listening... from the woman! Lori

Thanks Sherry. We DO sound like one in the same don't we?? Sheesh! I have two teenagers and a husband that just won't do anything unless I ask! I really shouldn't have to ask! JUST FRIGGIN DO IT! Geez! I guess I did get some exercise yesterday since I got home at 5:30 and didn't sit down until until 8:30! I kept finding something else that needed to be done. I really really do need a vacation. Can I come over??? Seriously! I have never been to Alabama! Thanks again for reminding me to breath.... Lori

Tammy- Yes, I had this happen fairly early out. I chewed gum from the beginning and didn't really worry about it...I hadn't swallowed gum in years...what would make me swallow gum as an adult???? Well, I was chewing gum and went to say something to my husband (just like you) and down it went....I worried myself sick all evening and over night...but nothing happened and I was fine...and I still chew gum every day...I think sugar free gum keeps me from wanting to eat so much. Hi Everyone ~ I have been talking with Tammy, who is going to have surgery this coming Monday, 6/12. She is from Syosset, NY and has been worried with anxiety over her surgery. She is having the RNY surgery. So being the great group that we are- would like to ask everyone to reach out and send her good wishes and maybe share some of your journey with her. She is a married Mom of 2 little ones. She had to hire a lawyer and the state overturned her insurance comp denial, so she is a fighter. here is her surgery page: http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/members/status.php?N=F1122238343 We are all so blessed and thought she could really use the uplift. Hugs Donna

Clarissa, Just to let you know the flow does get better. I had an IUD put in several years ago, prior to surgery, and the flow slowly decreased. It is still heavier than before but much more manageable! Lynne 276/176/156

I think you and I were separated at birth. You sound just like me, Lori. I cannot stand to come home to a dirty house when everyone else gets home at 3:45 and I don't get home until 6:00. Just tidy up and I will do the rest - BUT DO SOMETHING!!!!! May was crazy for us with all the sports. I know how you feel. All the running around, the ups and downs of WLS, the stress of work, etc... etc... It sounds like you do need some time away from it all. Keep your head up, girl and remember to breathe. LOL, Sherry 276/180.5/
