I started losing my hair at about month 4-5, I guess, and it lasted about 3 months. Even though it was noticeable in my already very thin hair, I was determined not to stress about it, because I feared that would make it worse! I started using Pantene Restoratives Strengthening Spray, and when I was out and so was the store, bought the Pantene Restoratives Strengthening Lotion - I LOVE IT! I can't really say for sure if it helped, but my hair is stronger and has grown back nicely - even my hairdresser commented.
Give it a shot, it's about $4 up here.

HAPPY SURGIVERSARY!!! It's an awesome journey, isn't it? You've done so well - you're where I want/need to be, but like you, if I never lose another pound, I'm already happier and healthier than I've ever been. What more can you ask????!!!!
Do something awesome to celebrate!!!
Take care,

Topic: RE: Happy Anniversary, even if my surgeon didn't think so!
HIJACK _ I just wanna stick my 2c in- I totally agree with Lorlee, Lori.
You have a bonehead for a surgeon- who seems like he does great surgery- but
has the insensitive bone stuck in his bedside manner derriere..ask him how come he hasn't that surgically removed? Must be painful walking around with it..LOL
I m also not done losing weight- and am doing everything I can think of to lose- and I did lose 6lbs this past week- but it was a temp weight gain- and I havent been back on the scale yet-
I will scream if it went up again. LOL. It seems to "normal off" when I stop working out for 2 days- so Im not sure what is p- but I do see results with inches- Ive been targeting my ABS and my tummy with Stairmaster cardio- and I'm liking the way I fit
inside my 2 pc bathing suits and these size L Yoga pants I bought at Target..If my tummy shows a little when I workout or swimming- I just don't care- and don't you care what that bonehead surgeon says- unless its something surgical.

Topic: RE: Did I miss something?
WHEW! I read your post at work and didnt have time to ans- and I thought she was busy with work and knew something in her family was upcoming.. thanks for posting..Id have been bothering her at a bad time- LOL ..How are you doing, Lori?
I have kept with my workouts- worked out last sun/tues/wed missed Friday/Sat, worked out Sun/ Today..I took this Powerflex class last wednesday- for a changeup- u know? It was mostly weights and some aerobics & I thought I could stay with the class- which I DID- and thought it was like a 50 min class- DUHH!! It turned out to be 90mins! LOL
ANd with all the weights and stuff I do- this still kicked my butt! I was sore for 3 days!
But whatever I did last week- paid off. ANd I did everything- from eating french toast once for dinner- to changing my routine and increasing fluids- to adding different cross training machines..I lost 6lbs- went from the 217 (gain) back to 210 (today) go figure..
OH and I had 2 dates- Friday and Saturday- and believe it or not- lost 3lbs over those 2 days- and ate pasta and shrimp and drank a glass of white wine spritzer (one each) date..
SO maybe I need more WHINE in my DIET- LOL!!
There was a lot of chemistry with my Friday date- I kept him out till 4am..LOL That is so untypical of me- ha ha- it was hard to say good night- you know? So keep your fingers crossed and we'll see what happens..his name is Steven. He is 40 and loves older women..I'm keeping my fingers crossed- and not my legs- LOL!! shhhut up
did I just say that? ha ha ha ha ha ..
How are you doing with your workouts? How are your kids enjoying their summer?
My son is gone for 2 weeks- and I am enjoying this..I was thinking of throwing another BBQ this weekend..or maybe a very private party..LOL we will see..

Hello to my Fellow august buddies!
my surgiversary is tomorrow. I probably lost the least amount on this board. I'm at 170, but I started from 255. and I want to be 155-160 maybe...I never set a number for myself to start with, and neither did my Surgeon. But did I meet my Goal? YES!, YES!, and YES!
Most defenetly...I'm healthier, much better looking, more energetic and soaring with confidense now. I'm yet to have problems from this surgery that worth mentioning. This surgery worked for me exactly the way I hoped it would...It let me regain control of my eating and it let me loose weight effectivly. I can eat variety of foods, I'd say I can eat pretty much anything I choose to in small amounts. I ve got no skin issues to speak of, very minor amount of pain and discomfort, and tons of complements every day...
)
YOu, girls have been a tremendous help and inspiration for me. I'm glad to have had the opportunity to walk this road with you all
Best wishes and hugs to all,
Rita

Topic: Question?
Does our hair ever get thicker or stronger since a lot of my hair fell out? I've tried so many things and I just feel bald/Thinner anyway.
Any ideas?
Kim

Sounds like the only thing you're doing wrong is comparing yourself to others. It's hard, I know, especially when you read of other success stories, but yours is! For your health if nothing else, make sure you get tha****er and protein in - the rest will take care of itself. As long as your surgeon says you're doing well and you're healthy and feeling better, I'd say that's a success!!!
You don't say what your starting weight is, but from what I'm reading, the bigger you are, the quicker you lose initially.
Don't fret - you've done wonderfully. Just do what you need to do and please don't beat yourself up. Easier said than done, I know!
Hang in there,
Teresa
Topic: RE: Check up yesterday with surgeon
Thanks so much for the encouragement, Mrs G!! It really helps to know you all are on my side and think I've done marvelously. I have decided not to go back to see him and will cancel my appointment later this month. My sister says, "Just fire the jerk!" and she is right.
Well, again, I appreciate your encouragement and hope that I have been an ecouragement to our other August buddies at times as well. That is why I come to this message board the most. We are all in the same boat with our surgery date being so close and it helps to see that I'm not alone in this journey.
