Hi Deb, Welcome to the August 2005 forum. Hey I live down the hill from you in Lake Forest. I had my surgery the day after you. I have lost 103 to 105 lbs. The last few months I have been on a big stall. I have been working out hard but my body is holding on to those pounds. I finally took some measurements again because I think I am building muscle. I still have to lose another 15-25 lbs to reach my goal. I also am looking into PS. They 1st PS doctor said I would lose at least five lbs when that is done. Diana 263/158/135 5' 8"

I was told at least 30 minutes, but 1 hour would be better. Gives the pouch enough time to signal the body that it is full and let you get the feeling of full. My Dr. did an experiment where the had a cup like affair with mushy food (think cottage cheese or oatmeal consistancy) in it (representing the stomach). It did not drip out very quickly. Then he added water to it and it came running out very quickly with just a little stir (think of the stomach digesting). Water on top of food empties the pouch very quickly. Eileen 337/208/160-170ish

Topic: One Year Ago Today
So one year ago today I was in the hospital recovery from my gastic bypass. Wow...what a whirlwind ride this has been. I've gone from gasping for breath walking ever so slowly up the stairs to running up the stairs without thinking twice. Other milestones: -Losing 102 lbs since surgery -Crossing my legs without a thought -Wearing a size 14/16 jeans (button & zip) & have alot of breathing room. Shirts size medium/large -Putting on my socks & not feeling my heart pound in my head -Squatting down without falling over -Energy level.........UH through the roof -Learning the new lifestyle & embracing it -Learning this is a tool & without proper use....IT WILL NOT WORK -Embracing life -Learning how much of a FAST & Emotional eater I really was -Food is no longer the center of my life -Riding amusement park rides & having room left between my stomach & the bar -Having my seat in my vehicle where it belongs & not pushed way back to make room for my stomach -Realizing that all this time I thought I was Big Boned...I'M NOT (my wrists are sooooo tiny) -My size 8 rings are are constantly spinning on my finger...can now wear a 7 -discoverying soooooo many wonderful people on this website. Those of whom I could not even imagine taking this journey without.... I LOVE YOU ALL -having my true friends stick by me through all of my emotional roller coasters....(love ya Wendy)..... My Sister, Deb, who I am so thankful for being able to walk this journey together. My daughters that have gone from having a Mother struggling to get off the couch to having energy. They've lived, first hand, the journey with me....What would I do without my girls??? I love them sooooo MUCH. My sister, Chicky, who I have talked to daily throughout this process & has always reminded me to remember from where I've come (love ya Cheech). My sister, Rosie, who is starting her journey today.....she's always been so excited for me....& all my other family members & friends.... I LOVE THEM ALL SOOOO MUCH.... I could go on forever. Most importantly, I am so grateful to God for blessing me with the opportunity to increase my health, my lifestyle, and continued success through this journey. I know it is through the grace of God that I am here today. Happy 1 year to all my OH August Friends (Donna today too)..... You all mean so much to me & I hope we can get the opportunity to all meet some day. We've gone through so much together & I can't imagine my life without you. Let's remember to always keep in touch, stay focused & never forget to CELEBRATE OUR SUCCESS... We ROCK.... Here's to the start of another successful year.... ((((HUGS)))) & Tammy

Hi All... How's everyone doing today??? I'm doing great. Just got word that my sister's surgery went well & she's in the recovery room. Thank you all for your prayers. I can't wait to be with her this weekend. No exercise for me today... as you all know, the mandatory overtime continues. I'm trying to do 4 hrs of OT per day to get it over with by tomorrow so I can prepare for my trip this weekend. My weight today 182-182.5.... still teetering.... Have a great day Tammy

I was told either 30 mins. before or after I eat. My problem is I always get thirsty and always drink when I eat. Not alot most of the time, but it drives me crazy! I get soo thirsty!

The question is something I have asked before on the main messageboard. How long do you're wait before you drink after you finish your meal or food? My doctor told me to wait 2 hours before I drink. But I have never did it, I wait maybe 1 hour to 1 hour and thirty minutes. Most of the time I take 2 to 3 sips after I eat so I can have that wet sensation in my mouth. And then I wait. Let me know what you're do. Take care Carolyn

Hi Tammy, congrats to you and Donna on ya'lls one year anniversary tomorrow. You have really been there for us and for that I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I know I'm the lazy one of the group, but I still like posting and chatting with you ladies. Today was Rolens first day of school and he must of had a great time because, he fell a sleep around 5pm this evening and he's still a sleep right now. I'm about to wake him up so he want be keeping me up later to night. OH! by the way it is 7:45pm right now. Guess what, the 4 pounds I gain last week I have already loss 3 of them. I don't know how I did it but I'm happy with it. Maybe all the walking I did at Targets and Wal-mart saturday and sunday looking for Rolen a lunch bag. And after we return home I remembered I had bought him one 2 weeks ago and it was in the trunk of my truck. I guess I'm just getting OLD and crazy. You girls have a wonderful anniversary enjoy your day tomorrow. Take Care Carolyn 284/187 today/
