I started loosing my hair again about the same time. Its not near as bad as it was three months out. However, my daughter is also loosing hair. Could it be the seasons?

I'm still loosing hair but its not as bad as it was. My PCP just in the last month but me on a pre-natel vitaim and it seems to help. At my 6 month check up with my surgeron he told me to take Zinc for my hair loss. I guess it's somthing that we learn to live with. I too have fine hair the one thing I had going for me is that I had a lot of it. I have probably lost more then half of what I had. I know that everytime I get my hair cut it keeps getting shorter in lengh. This last time I cut it prety short and it feels a lot thicker then it use to. Congratulations on the 96lb weight loss that's awesome keep up the good work. Good luck with the hair loss. I know its frustrating.

Topic: Anybody still experiencing hair loss?
My hair loss started out almost 3 months to the day after my surgery which was 8/25. It lasted for approximately 4 months then almost completely stopped. Well, it started again at approx 10 months out and is still falling out. I take all my vitamins, drink my fluids, get at least 80 to 100 grams of protein a day, eat a variety of foods including fruits and veggies. I only take my iron about every other day due to horrid constipation of which I still can't hardly manage even with 3 stool softeners and 3 Tablespoons of benefiber each day. My last blood work at 6 months out showed taht my blood counts were normal, so I was no where near being anemic which I know can cause hair loss in some people. I am a slow loser, as I've lost only 96 pounds and I started out at 300lbs. I am almost in tears about the hair loss since I have thin hair to begin with and I thought all the hair loss issues were behind me and I know that everyone else talks about how theirs only lasted a couple of months. Well, here I am almost a year out and my hair is still falling out. I'm seeing my surgeon on Friday for my one year check and plan to talk to him about all of this, but I wanted to check with others who had surgery around the same time to see if I'm the only one going thru this.
Topic: RE: New Wardrobe yet?
I'm right there with you. I had my surgery while I was off work for a year and a half working on my Master's degree, so there was no rush for me to go out and buy clothes. I was lucky in that I met a friend on OH who had surgery 9 months before me. Her mom would take her shopping every few months and buy her designer clothes...which she would then give to me when she outgrew them. Mind you, it wasn't a lot, but a few pair of pants and a couple tops. That came in so handy, but now we are the same size and she's not giving anything away anymore. So, this summer I bought three pair of shorts and a few tee shirts at Wal Mart to get me by. I wore my 26/28's as long as I possibly could, but it just got to the point that I couldn't, as you all well understand. I didn't buy a new bathing suit this summer either...still wearing the 26/28! One is fine, but the other, which is the two piece shorts and tank type of suit...well I have to be careful with that one as the top has a tendency to "float" up....LOL!!! I only wear it in my own pool when we don't have company...LOL!!
I'm a teacher and going back to work in a couple of weeks. I have 3 pair of slacks and a couple of khakis that are 20's and few tops, but most of those are long sleeve because I bought them in the early spring. I'm in 16W's or 18 Misses. I really need to go shopping!!!! AND SOON!!!
What is sad, is that I have two closets FULL of 26/28(some 30's) of "professional" clothes that I NEED to put on EBAY...I got rid of a lot of my very casual clothes at the local Goodwill or gave to my sister. But my sister gets offended when I offer her my clothes...I have to wait for her to ask me if I have any clothes she could borrow for this or that. I don't mind giving my clothes away, but frankly, I could use the money to replenish my wardrobe!
One good thing about being able to buy smaller clothes is that there is more selection on the clearance racks. My weight loss has slowed a lot so I should be ok to buy a larger quantity of new sizes. Not that I am happy about that, as I still want to lose 50 pounds.
I'm happy to have this problem, though!
Good luck!

Topic: A Year ago Today............
I was recovering from surgery. Where has the time gone? I can not believe it's been a year already. I feel like I've been on a Roller Coaster Ride. I have lost a total of 132lbs. I've gone from wearing a size 24W-26W to a size 6-8 in Pants and a medium in tops. I was trying on the one pair of pants that I saved from when I was fat and I fit in just half of them. I am so thankful for this tool I've been given and I pray that I will not fail and gain the weight back. This surgery fixes how much at one time that we can eat but it doesn't fix our heads. I still find that when I'm bored, stress or sad that I want to eat and this scares the crap out of me. Today has been a weird day for me. I've been home all day and I've grazed all day long. I'm still dealing with depression and being home all day has not helped. I would like to loose another 20lbs but I'm struggling to get it off. I had my 1 year follow up with my surgeon on Wednesday. He was very pleased at what I've accomplished although he told me he thought I was eating too many calories. I think I've been eating around 1000. He told me I should try to stick with 700-800 calories a day. Hopefully when I get back to work on Monday I can get better control of my eating. I've been on vacation this week and its been hard.

LORI- You are doing great- You are in ONEderland and close to your goal..You should measure your success everday- by doing something good for you- that nourishes your soul and frees your mind..Relax- walk- swim- drink a beverage you normally don't have- don't feel guilty about making yourself a priority and taking the time- You dserve it.. You have come such a long way and you are still going, girl - NEVER forget THAT.. This journey ends when you say it does- and look how much you are really enjoying it now? It makes such a HUGE difference to us- expecially if we bgan with BMIs over 50..We are reaching levels others have touched upon- but we are enjoying it all..Every new experience - carries meaning- and I'm happy that we are all healthy and able to share in it together.
And Give Dr Blockhead
a swift kick in the arse for me.
Hugs,
Donna
