Thanks for posting that. I have that book and read through it every once in a while at work when I have a few minutes. But, I somehow slid past that area. This just shows me that I need to go back to the beginning of the book and read it again. I probably hit that section right after surgery when I was pushing to get in just the protein, much less veggies and fruit. Now that I am a year out, I have to concentrate on the basics again to keep losing.
Best of luck to you --- and you are always welcome here!

You're welcome. It's been a while since I've been peaking in here. The book is great. I think everyone should read it.
Have a great one!! Deb
Topic: Still over 200 lbs!
Hi everyone,
Its been a while since I've posted but I've kept everyone in my thoughts. I'm still not online, so I have to use the library's computer, which is timed. One of these days I'll get my computer fixed!
Lots has been going on in my life. I'm gearing up for more surgery...gallbladder, adhesions and hernia repair. I'm hoping to get the abdominoplasty while I'm under.
My 'issue' is that I am still teetering above 200 lbs. I've gotten down to 203, but now am back up to 207! I realize we all have swings, but I cannot seem to stay under 207. I've gone back to some bad eating habits, but for the most part, I do eat healthy. I dump from everything junkie, so I stay clear of the sweets. I'm still never hungry so I find myself just eating for the sake of getting my nutrition in...and I'm cheating a bit more. So I guess I'm to blame for the wieght loss stall. I have lost between 117 and 123 lbs since surgery, which is great and I'm thankful for that. But I am a bit jealous of y'all who've lost more (I started at 323; highest weight was 386)
Just need some support here...
I unfortunately won't be able to respond for a while (that's why I don't really post anymore).
Thanks to everyone and keep up the incredible work!

Hiya Tammy!
Glad to see your post today!
Sorry to hear about your gallbladder. That sucks. I know from experience. Mine came out when my son was 10 days old!
Talk about bad timing!
Hopefully you won't have too many more. They hurt so bad!
Don't worry about the exercising. I know it's tough in between working and running kids around. The only time I have to do it is at lunch. And that doesn't always happen. Some days I work right through.
Take care of yourself!

Thanks Debra! This is EXACTLY what I needed.
I was wondering how many servings of each food I should be eating. I was quite clueless really!
I just made sure to get the protein in and then just winged it on the rest.
Thanks again for posting this!
YOU LOOK AWESOME!!

Lori,
Great job on your walking. I gotta get back in the swing of exercise again, too. Now that the girls are back in school & we're on a better schedule again, I can get back into my exercise routine.
You're doing awesome.... It's always great to hear success stories.

Topic: Wednesday & Thursday Exercise
Hi Everyone
Hope you're all doing great. I haven't done much on the exercise front this week with overtime & getting the girls prepared to start back to school today.
I've been doing good with eating. Really trying to up my protein.
I was back to 181.5 yesterday & then again this morning. Who knows what will happen with that.
I did have a gallbladder attack last Friday. First one. Scared the crap out of me. Thought something was going on with my pouch. I have an appointment with my pcp on Tuesday. I'll talk to him about a gallbladder ultrasound at that time. I'll keep you all posted with that.
Have a great day everyone

Hi Dawn....
So great to hear from you. Glad to hear you're doing good. Sorry about the gallbladder issues. I had my first gallbladder attack last Friday. Wasn't real painful, but wasn't fun either. I have an appointment with my PCP on Tuesday and will ask him then to order an ultrasound. We'll see what comes out of it. I wouldn't worry about the 10 lbs. I'm sure with work and all you'll get back to where you want to be. You've done great this far & I'm sure you'll continue to be successful.
My weight has been teetering for quite some time again between 182 & 183. I was back to 181.5 this morning so who knows. Exercise has also been off & on with all the mandatory overtime, but I've been doing good.
Keep us posted on how you're doing. It's always great to hear from you.

Topic: Bariatric Food Guide Pyramid
Good morning all. I'm Tammy's sister Deb. Thought I'd share this with you all. In reading "Bariatric Surgery for Dummies" there is a great food pyramid guide for all of us.
Here's what it says..different from the regular food pyramid.
At the bottom:
Protein: Minimum 8-10 servings: can include-1/2 C cooked beans, 6 oz yogurt, 1/4 C cottage cheese, 1 egg or 1/4 c egg substitute, 1 oz lean meat, poultry, fish, cheese; 8 oz non fat milk
Vegetables: 2 Servings a day - 1 Cup Raw, 1/2 Cup cooked
Fruits: 2 Servings a day - 1 cup berries; 1 small banana; 1 peeled apple (samples)
Grains/Beans/and Starchy vegetables: 2 Servings a Day - 3/4 C cereal (less than 6gr sugar); 1 small sweet potato; 1 slice 40 cal wheat bread; 1/3 c brown rice or wheat pasta
Fats: 4 servings a day: 2 tbsp avocado, 1 tsp olive oil/butter/margarine
Your surgeon and nutritionist may provide some helpful menus, but the bariatric food guide pyramid will help you design your own daily menus. The base of the pyramid is protein, the sources of protein are meat, fish, eggs, dairy, and legumes. Half of your daily diet (calories) should come from these sources.
I don't know about you guys, but I really didn't know exactly how to balance out my daily food. This is a good guideline for a balanced diet.
Hope it's helpful to all of you.
Debra
