Hi August 2005 buddies. I am on here all the time, but duh, I never knew about this forum. The posts are really helping me. I am down 109lbs to 183, and my doc wants me at 160. I want to get to 150. I am starting to look at food again, and its not my own idea. I went to a support group the other night and our doc was speaking about people who gain back weight, and how many people around 6 months will get hungry again, and it was like my brain heard him, and since then, my appetite is back!! What is up with that? I hate this feeling, its very scary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel out of control....mentally, but I am not eating bad. I bought a workout mat tonight at Target, and now that my back seems to sort of feel better, (I have chronic back problems) I want to try to work out now. Everytime I do, I feel terrible and end up flat in bed on my back. So how are you guys working this forum? I notice you are all exercising, what is the best way and what is everyone doing?? thanks for any advice and support, I finally feel the honeymoon phase is over. I was hoping to be one of those people who would always dump, I haven't dumped in a while, and that worries me...although I do not eat sweets, I do eat some fruit and that will sometimes make me dump. I also was hoping to be one of those people who had a hard time to keep from losing....I am still losing but not as fast. Thanks Guys!!!! Have a great week, and I would love to join your workout "group" Deborah

Hi Deborah... Welcome............ It's always great to have other August surgery buddies find us.... You're doing so good with your weight loss. Congratulations. I believe most of us, at this point, have slowed down alot with our weight loss. I think its at this point that sometimes those old habits try to creep back into our brains. Remember that this tool is physical, not mental. Together, we can encourage each other to fight those bad habits... I post an exercise topic every day... I am sooo happy that I do because, boy if I didn't, I wouldn't ever keep up with it. Personally, I'm a walker. Have done a few other things, but I mostly walk. I would suggest you start out slow, seeing you have back problems, and build your muscles. Possibly see an orthopedic or physical therapist to suggest what would work best in your situation. I'm not sure what you've been doing thus far, but start out walking and doing stretches or something like that. Whatever you decide to do, it'll be great having you join our exercise post I've lost 94-96 lbs (depending on the day) since surgery and 97-99 lbs since the beginning of my journey. I also am one of 4 support group leaders at our local support group. I think it's so vital, especially the further we get out from surgery. I'm so happy with my success so far. I would go back and do it all over again. Hang in there with your food issues. Sounds like you're doing all the right things... Keep posting, it helps soooooooo much... Again, welcome to the Family.... Everyone on here is WONDERFUL. I know I couldn't have made it this far without my OH family Have a Wonderful Day Tammy

Hi Deborah!! Nice to see a new Aug buddy face come join our posts! You are well into onderland-good for you..Save me spot with a great view..it will probably be awhile before I get there..My first stop is Century Club..and mostly I do border patrol..Im on the perimeter thinking how I will sneak in! Ive lost 97lbs and waiting to get past this point. My short term goal is to get to 215 & work my way down to onderland..but I do know Im losing fat beacuse my measurements are getting smaller!! Exercise is an individual thing. I highly recommend you do some stretching before you do anything physical and stretching afterwards is very important. I used to blow both these off- and I noticed my muscles aching a bit afterwards- and now that I include it- im fine after every workout and I have athritis in my knees..so thats what I recommend. Also- if you have FITTV- they feature a lot of different classes and instructors- the best by FAR - is Gilad. He is a former world decathalon thrower and he is in better shape now then 23 yrs ago when I discovered him..its important not only to exercise, but use some handweights- as that will speed up yur metabolism and keep you burning fat- long after you've exercised. Its called "afterburn" and it only happens with weights. I would recommend the next time you visit Target- look in their book section- there is a great book called - The ABS diet. Its written by the editor in chief of mens fitness. (I know what your thinking) Its a great tool- its fun to read and very upbeat- and it identifies 12 foods which we all eat-as being powerfoods to burn fat- PLUS he had exercises in the book that show how to strengthen your back, legs, chest and abs..and doesnt require a lot of time daily- just 20mins. The info on nutrition got me- and talks alot about avoiding obesity.. its very informative. Hope that helps! Come & post more often!! Donna

Thanks for making me feel so welcome!! I went to the beach today and felt great! Until I had to leave after only 1.5 hrs because I was dumping....chicken salad caesar wrap from Taco Bell. I only ate some pieces of chicken and some lettuce, so I don't know what did it...the sun??? I am taping Denise Austin tomorrow morning and going to try to do her workout when I get up. I am home alone this week First time ever! Hubby is overseas, oldest son is in college in Oklahoma, and youngest son is on his senior class trip to Disney, so mama gets to stay home...kinda nice to have peace and quiet and do what I want Thanks for sharing so much, and I appreciate all the support and love Deb
