Hi-My name is Martha Dunn. I am completing my doctoral degree at Antioch New England Graduate School. My dissertation research project explores post bariatric surgery behavior, struggles and needs. If you have 10-15 minutes to complete the survey, it would be a big help to me. Also, if you have friends who've also had the surgery and could forward this message to them, that would be great. More in-depth details are on the link that follows and thank you in advance. Martha http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=60661940436

Hi Martha, First, congrats on getting your doctoral degree! I went ahead and did it, but I have a question for ya. How did you classify a Roux-en-Y bypass? Didn't see that option. Dawn

Thank you for completing the survey. I really appreciate it. I classified the Roux en Y as "other" though that was clearly a flaw in the survey. It certainly merits its own category. Take care and thanks again- Martha

Hi Martha - i also completed the survey- and I chose the "other" and listed my surgery as lap RNY, don't know whether you are separating Laprascopic vs open RNY..as they are different surgeries- with different recoveries. Good luck with your studies and degree completion. Donna

Thanks for your thoughts. In my data analysis I will not be that specific about different surgeries. I'm really looking at restrictive v. restrictive and malabsorptive surgeries. I thought it would be easier for participants to name the surgery they had rather than trying to figure out whether it was restrictive or malabsorptive. However, I know that from the patient's perspetive lap v. open is a much different experience. Thanks again so much. Take good care- Martha
