Update on my dad...
Hi All,
Dad is doing better each day physically. I went and got him a cane today (in the middle of a really bad thunder/lightening/hail storm) and he took his first walk around the floor. We just heard that the MRI shows a bigger stroke then they suspected, but the neurologist said he'd get better every day. He still hasn't started coumadin, but that may be started tomorrow. We still don't have a release day either.
Managed to take a 70 min. walk today - helped a whole lot mentally.
Thanks for all the encouragement!!
Dawn
Hi Dawn,
I am glad to hear your dad is improving. Just know we are all thinking and praying for you and your family here....a friend told me the following:
I would rather live my life as if there is a God, and die to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there isn't, and die to find out there is. Just repeat this prayer and see how God moves!!
"Lord, I love you and I need you, come into my heart, and bless me,
my family, my home, my finances, and all of my friends,
in Jesus' name. Amen."
How true thi****s home...just keep lifting your dad up to God, the miracle worker of all!
God Bless and keep you and yours!
Nancy
Dawn!
That's great news. I hope he gets better and better each and every day. It's hard, but it's possible to completely recover from problems caused by stroke. My mom had hers a few years back, and physically she's recovered fully , although her speach never came back, but that's a separate issue, and everyone is different as we all know. What you described: walking for 70 mins and Doctors sounding optimistic are all good signs. best of luck to you and your family.
hugs, Rita
Hi Dawn,
So glad to hear your Dad is improving. I'm sure it eases his mind to have his family with him right now.
Great job on the walking. I'm so happy to hear that you are staying focused. It's nice to be able to use exercise for a release instead of food isn't it?
My prayers and thoughts continue to be with you and you family.
God Bless All of You
Tammy
Hi Dawn,
I am so happy to hear your Dad is getting better. Cherish every moment you have with him. I lost my Dad a little over 2 years ago and that was the reason I had Gastric By-pass. He was on the same blood thinner and he had been obese most of his life. He had a triple by-pass and colon cancer and survived but the body can only handle so much. We are lucky to be able to make some of these healthy changes early on to hopefully prevent us from going through some of this stuff our parents will be going through.
In my prayers
Diana
HI Dawn -
I just want you to know you are in my thoughts and prayers. I mistakenly
sent your message to Lori yesterday and I know you are handling some
family difficulty. but Thank God for everyday you have your Dad with you,
and praise God, that you have the strength to handle whatever comes your way. Im sure before surgery- your health may have made it difficult to handle all you are doing- so know we are thinking of you- and sending our best.
Keep the faith and wish your family all good things.
Hugs
Donna
