WEEK 2 TO GOAL - Motivation & Music
Hello!!
I don't post this on Mondays, if you wondered, because I want to see how everyone is doing mid week- and see if there is anything you need help with, as the week progresses..
I began tanning, so Im hoping by the time I get to Vega$ in May, I am a bronze goddess. I'm keeping better track of my vitamins, and have been doing 1-2 Nectar shakes a day & trying to add more water. My scale is now an immovable stone. I will be going to the gym tonight- and left the house with my bag ready to go. No excuses- even me!
So Today, I thought, about motivation, and aside from the obvious- like
shopping for smaller clothes- what motivates you to keep focused?
I am big on music & love my mini Ipod. I broke so many MP3 players at the gym..so here's some of what I listen to - and thought it would be fun to share our music - and maybe expand our workouts and music libraries!
Tilt Ya Head Back - Chrisitine Aguliera & Nelly
Hot in Here / Rid Wit Me - Nelly
Crazy In Love - Beyonce
Pump It / My Humps/ Lets get it started - Black Eyed Peas
Pump Up the Jam - Technotronic
Get Up Offa That Thing - James Brown ( I dare u to sit down on this)
Good Vibrations - Marky Mark & the Funky Bunch (Mark Wahlberg)
** I love this - this gets me into my workout**
Dancing With Myself- The Donnas (better than Billy Idols version)
I Like It Like That - Tito Puente
Conga - Gloria Estefan
Bust A Move - young MC
You Should Be Dancing - Bee Gees
Le Freak - Chic
Yeah! - Usher
Waiting for Tonight- Jennifer Lopez
Material Girl /Holiday/ Ray of Light - Madonna
Love Shack- B-52s
She Bangs- Ricky Martin
Sexbomb- Tom Jones
Ladies Night - Kool & The Gang
Party For Two - Shania Twain & Mark from Sugar Ray
Dont Cha - the *****Cat Dolls
Who Do ya Think You Are - Spice Girls
No One gets the Prize/ The Boss - Dianna Ross
Im so excited - The Pointer Sisters
Hit me with your best shot - Pat Benatar
What I like About You- The Romantics
R.O.C.K. - John Mellencamp
If you like Christina Aguiliera- check out the duet she does with Nelly- its really good- and hers is the best arranged ..Nellys "version" is looser and not as dynamic sounding..
Hope this gives ya some ideas..
Ciao

Hey Donna,
Is it really week 2 to goal? OM, I didn't realize that.
Well, here is what going on for me...
goal 1 - 10 lbs by 4/28 - down 3 so 7 more to go
goal 2 - Increase water...I do better on week days then the weekend but it is mu*****reased since doing plateau buster
goal 3 - Increase excerise - not going well at all. I just can't get motivated in this area...
goal 4 - Stop emotional/boredom eating...this has been successful due to the plateau buster too. I am much fuller and with drinking more liquids there isn't time to boredom/emotional eat.
goal 5 - finish my blanket...last night I finished the blanket and just love looking at it on my big red chair. It turned out great for a first project. Now I have to find another one.
As for music, I don't listen to much at home, just in the car on the radio. I listen to Christian Contemporary music on Z88.3 in Orlando Florida. I love the DJs and the music is uplifting and upbeat.
That's it for me.

Hi Lori -
don't worry- I deliberately picked 5 weeks for the first goal..
Three more weeks..I can see your focus is on your creative projects- and that takes up your time- but here is a trick I play with myself and maybe this will help you: I pick something I love - in my case its swimming, the sauna and the hot tub- or even tanning - and I cannot do these things- until I get my exercise out of the way first.. so again- Its like Im goal setting. So depending how motivated I am to get to the pool or the tan salon- I get my butt in gear.. So I would suggest- you picking out another project and planning it- but you cant work on it- until you get your workout out of the way.
I read somewhere that to remain in a fat burning or weight loss mode- its best not to go longer than 48hrs without exercising. remember when I was sick- and didnt work out for 3 weeks? During that time I had my surgeon take my metabolism test - it was 46% faster than average- (which is good) BUT it was down 6% from the previous month (52%) when I had been exercising regular. So don't lose the progress you've already made.
So when I get to the gym- its very tempting to say- hey I just wanna get into my suit and hit the sauna and pool- but believe it or not- in 3 years- I have not broken this rule. Now if I could just get through my workout tonight without breaking another nail! LOL
Thanks for everything -
Donna
Hey Donna!
Boy, this 2 wks. has really gone by fast!
Here were my goals and my updates:
*lose 11 lbs. by April 28, getting me to 190
**I am at 193 now, putting me 3 pounds away from goal...hope it keeps going
*getting more protein in each day and all my vitamins..sometimes forget my calcium and B complex
**Really working on this, viatmins, are going well, protein, pretty well.
*exercise some way or the other at least 4-5 days per week...I have been a bad girl with this!!
**I am still not able to exercise like I want. I have been having a great deal of problems with my ankle and back, but I pray this will be better after my surgery on 4/28
*become more focused on my final destination as I get closer and closer
**I am becoming more focosed on my journey. I went to my support meeting and everyone just bragged so on me and told me I had a huge change in a month's time!
Yippee!!
Have a wonderful evening!

Hey Donna,
Thanks for the encouragement and great idea.
I have begun getting into the swing of things and have been on the elliptical trainer for 12 minutes one night and 15 the next night. I missed last night due to a funeral, but will be back on it tonight unless it is beautiful when I get home and can walk instead. Suppose to rain.
You are right, I know when I have something I love to do, I will make it a goal to do the thing that is less enjoyable and then do the one I love after to motivate me. Thanks for the reminder!
You are an awesome inspirator to all us August mates!
Thanks so much,
Lori

Hi Donna,
Well, I have continued to exercise at least 4 times a week and I lost 3 lbs this last week, so I'm only 5 lbs from goal, so am on track for reaching it by May 2nd. Exercising at the moment is harder since I'm not at home, but I'm doing my best to find ways - such as walking down 6 flights of stairs at the hospital instead of taking the elevator. I'd go up them too if the doors weren't locked on the inside.

H Dawn- I saw you did a 70 min walk yesterday- GOOD 4 YOU!!
Isn't it amazing- how sticking to even a small part of routine becomes so
emotionally, mental and physically necessary? I know when I've had to miss workouts- my stress level is up there- and Im sure given your current situation- you are handling it all very well.
Keep doing what you can- and the rest will fall into place!
Hugs,
Donna
HEY! Where is Everyone??
Mrs. G - Sherry- Lady J- Jill, & everyone else I missed..what is going on
with you this week? Discover any new things? Try anything for different results? This wasn't just about music- I thought it would be fun to see
what we collectively listen to- but I still want everyone to post and
tell us how you are making it work this week..
Here is what I've done so far- and I usually workout 1-2 more days on the weekend
Tuesday- worked out at Golds Gym
35mins Treadmill 3.0 -6.0 inclines / 1.75 miles
30 mins Precor stairmaster levels 10-15 / 300 cals
1hr weight training
Thursday 4/6 Ballys workout
45mins Treadmill 2.25miles /450 cals/ 3.5-9.0 inclines
Precor Stairmaster - 10mins- 105 cals
Weight training: 30mins
Friday so far- Did 15 mins of light weight training this morning.
I tried something new yesterday (again) Getting protein immediately after
your workout- is imperative for muscle recovery- any trainer will tell you this. The amino acids are what helps restore and build your muscles.
I made a 42oz protein shake (3 scoops) - and decided to drink it throughout my workout- instead of just propel or regular water.
Let me tell you- these Nectar protien drinks are fabulous.I also took an "energy up" vitamin (available at the vitamin shoppe- I highly recommend these- they contain ginseng- and it DOES make a difference in your performance) the Vitamin + the protein = made such a difference - first when I got home- I was not that hungry- 2- I didnt feel sore- 3- I awoke 30 mins earlier today, without an alarm (never happens) feeling rested and ready to go.
Oh yeah- and I lost 2 more pounds. I also want to say- that doing this with Tammy and everyone else- has motivated me more- to getting more out of my gym experience and focusing on better results.
I AM 4 LBS AWAY FROM THE CENTURY CLUB!!!
Everyone- have a great weekend. I am going out dancing tonight!
Ciao!
