Snacking...
I am like you in the fact that I haven't touched anything sugar-filled. I don't dare. My luck I wouldn't dump and then I would keep eating it. I know me! It's too risky!
WOW! It must be hard when hubby brings stuff home. Especially from KEEBLER!!! Good job on using your willpower!!!! I am proud of ya!
Thanks for the encouragement!

Hey Lori!
I LOVE peanut butter! Something I have become fond of since surgery and have been eating it - sometimes as a snack, and sometimes as a mini- meal- with apples and cheese and wheat crackers.. Also try it with celery and today- I just had it with a banana, no bread.. Love it! I keep the PB with my water bottle handy. Some days I cant get out to lunch - and having peanut butter with whole wheat club or wheat thins - holds me nicely.. LOL.. I feel like a kid who just discovered a new food.
I also have s/f ice pops and another new kick, is having fruit- like fresh strawberries and blueberries, topped with nonfat cool whip! YUMMY!
I also discovered strawberries with Dannon Vanilla Light/Fit yogurt! OMG
it tastes soo sweet! I'm gonna try it in a smoothie next.. Oh and I bought
No sugar added LoCarb ice cream- made with Splenda..Im not a big chocolate fan- but this tasted great & added it to my protein shake.
Next I will try the chocolate ice cream with peanut butter!
I also LOVE poporn and while I haven't had some lately- I do love the
ACTII butter kind, and I do buy chips and soy version of rice cakes- they come in BBQ , Ranch, French Onion, etc and I like those.. occasionally I do manage to get a palmful of chips if my son has them out- but I limit it to
just that small handful- and I'm okay. BEFORE- the bag would have been the meal before the meal .
I think not feeling deprived is important for long term success, but so is balance. I think as long as we continue to watch our intake, we will do fine. I also believe, the more we plan our success, the stronger we become..
Hugs,
Donna
Hey Lori!
I think this is such a wonderful post! I know I am very lucky now, my DH had this same surgery on 2/13, and before he was eating everything in sight, I think he was making up for me not eating it! It did not bother me too much, because I was still in the stage of not wanting it. Now that the honeymoon time is over, I find myself thinking I crave things sometimes, but I too, try to just have healthy stuff on hand to snack on. I find that if it is not around me, I don't want it!
I love to eat celery, I eat if with a little lowfat pimento cheese, and apples, oranges, strawberries w/splenda on them or the ff/sf coolwhip, yummy...there are so many things now available with splenda in them. My husband went to their website and printed out a list of products with splenda in them now and it was unreal!
I am with you, I do not graze. I keep my "bubba keg" with me, it hold 52oz. and I love it. I make tea (combination green tea with decaf. tea) and put splenda in it and a new favorite I have found, true lemon. If you have not tried this you need to go to thier website:
http://www.truelemon.com
There is a place where you can request a free sample (lower right hand side of site) and they send you 2 true lemon sample packs ans 2 true lime sample packs as well as a 50 cent coupon. I have just bought my first box of true lemon and put two packs in my 52 oz. "bubba keg" and it is so tasty! I try to chug when I crave too much and it is not mealtime or snack time. This seems to help.
Keep up the great job!
ya!

My snack of choice--only if I've had my 2 protein shakes--is sugar free popsicles. I love the tropical flavors! I also make sugar free chocolate pudding and pour it in the the small semi-disposalble GLAD containers. One box fills 4 cups. That way I know I will only eat one serving.
I drink most of my protein in decaf latte--1 1/2 cups skim milk (lactaid), scoop of vanilla protein, 2 packets of sweet n'low (Splenda gives me a tummy ache), and a tsp of decaf coffee. Mix and warm. It is VERY filling and satisfying.
I'm still terrified (and I'm going to stay that way) about eating anything sweet for fear of dumping. One day I had a Boost that I didn't dilute with milk and it made me sick. I don't want to go through that again!
I have an apple every afternoon.. the fiber is good.
I'm surprised to see that so many people eat celery. That is one of the foods that is on my Do Not Eat list from my doctor because it is stringy.
Good luck all.. we'll make it!
